Any musicians out there?

Looking for details of any of you musicians of the board. What you play, how long etc.

 

I had played guitar when I was much younger but about 8 months ago I picked the instrument again and I am getting quite good. Picked up a Squier Affinity Stat for £130 which is a great deal. They may not be in the same league as a Fender but the price is great. I have never played in a band as it is quite a big commitment to make, especially as I have so many other things that take up my time. I practice fequently, probably about a couple of hours a week. I have no intention of taking my music a long way, it's just a really good hobby for me. What's your musical story?

I started playing the drums when I was 8 (a long time ago). I played in a few Metal bands back in the '80's but lately golf is more important than bangin the skins!

Played most horns(tuba, trumpet, trombone, flugelhorn, etc) from 3rd grade up until college(along with piano, guitar, and bass). Was accepted to one of the best jazz programs in the U.S., then had a confidence crisis and walked away from music completely. :)

 

I got back into music a few eyars ago, have been in a gigging hard rock band (albeit only once every few months). I've been playing bass with them, and sharing lead vocal duties, but my next project might see me back on guitar. Who knows. :cheesy:

I started playing clarinet in 6th grade. As a junior in high school, I switched to french horn. I also started playing the trumpet that year in jazz band. I was assistant drum major my junior year and head drum major my senior year. I can play some chords on the guitar but do not practice enough. I started playing piano in kindergarden but quit on and off since then.

I know a lot of chords but I tend to read in tab as it's easy to understand.

I play guitar, been playin a little longer than golf so startin my fourth year. I play tabs normally, but I can read some music. Favorite guitar is a 97 American Fender Double Fat Strat, seen in my avatar (the white one). Love guitar.

Well as far as a Strat, I dont really know whats not to like about them. Great guitars. Good sound, good neck, well at least if you play a few, good construction and looks. They are just good guitars.

I have had several different pickups in my Strat and far and away the best one has been the Duncan Custom I have in there now. If you are looking to replace the bridge pickup this is a must have! Very tight and great harmonics! Keep on a rockin!!!!

Strats have just never done it for me. The neck/body joint is done so much better by other companies (even other superstrats). Most of the necks are too chunky for me, and I've learned I'm just not a single-coil player (not even in the neck position).

 

There's lots of options out there besides Gibson and Fender. Regardless of your brand, rock 'em if you got 'em.

Hey I'm a "winters off" club-pro looking for some other "winters off" pros to get together down south and play some music. I lived in AZ for 6 years and played lead guitar for a country band called "Sidewinder." Back in the day we got to open for acts like Denna Carter, Blackhawk, Vince Gill, Tracy Byrd, & Mark Wills, but nothing could top playing one night at "The Bird's Nest" at the Phoenix Open. You think the 16th at the TPC Scottsdale is crazy - you should see the Bird's Nest each night!!!

 

I play a strat, but I really love my old Tele for a good strong clean country sound. Like I said, if any of you know any up north golf pros who want to get together in the off-season and play a little gig or two, LET ME KNOW and I am in!!
