My name is Don. 37 and married with two small kids. Native of Dallas living a little south of DC.

Started playing in 1987. Didn't get serious until 1995 and spent 6 days a week playing or practicing while in the military (Marine stationed near Lackland AFB in San Antonio). Current USGA Index is 8.8. Been as low as a 6.1 and usually float in the 9-11 range.

I am a voracious reader of golf instruction texts and consider myself fairly knowledgeable of swing mechanics.

I also apprenticed in a small golf shop for a year and a half, and as a result do all of my own work on my clubs. I was a club ho before there was an internet. I am somewhat of a traditionalist and no matter what technology a club boasts, unless it looks right to my eye, I won't ever develop confidence in it. The clubs that have the longest run in the bag was a set of MP-29's (two sets actually. I replaced the first set after 4 years of use had worn the grooves on the short irons out) that I played from 1995 to 2002.

My early golf years were spent in Texas, and as a result of playing in windy firm conditions, I deloft the club a bit and tend to be a sweeper. My driver swingspeed is 110-112, so my swing works fine with everything except low spin driver heads and/or lower lofted drivers.

Current bag set-up (and not likely to change in the near future):

PING G2 10° w/ UST V2 75 stiff (tipped an inch and a half) at 45"

Cleveland Launcher 17° w/ stock stiff (I'd love to put a V2 85 in it and might in the next few months)

Cleveland 22° Launcher w/ stock stiff (will have a DGS-300 if I put a V2 in the 17°)

Bridgestone/Tourstage Z101 4-PW w/ DGS-300 or Titleist 690.MB 4-PW w/ stock stiff

52°, 56°, and 60° Titleist Vokey Raw wedges. 52° and 56° have an L grind and 690 has a mild M grind

Ping (Pat Pend) Anser2

Titleist Pro V1, Nike One Platinum, Srixon U-Tri Tour, or Bridgestone B330-S (in order of preference)

Screenname is RighttoLeft as I have fought a hook on and off for the last 8 or 9 years.

That's about all I can think of.

Taylormade Sim2 10.5° (turned down to 9°) - Tensei White 60 stiff

Ping G400 3 and 5 Woods - Diamana D+ Limited 70 stiff

Ping G400 22° Hybrid - Diamana D+ 90 Stiff

Ping i200 5-UW - Modus Tour 105 stiff

Vokey SM4 54° and 58° - DGS-300

Cameron Special Select Newport 2

Don´t play as much or as well as I used to but I still love the game! I enjoy this site for its lack of ego and unbiased opinions. Been on here for awhile but never saw this thread.

Hi,

I'm Dave and just moved to the San Francisco area from Canada. Took about 5 years off from golf to go to university and am getting back into it.

I'm looking at picking up a set of Mizuno MP-60s since I've heard they are more forgiving than the MP-67s. I used to play with some Honma blades (tiny, tiny club heads, but hit so well). Still have to pick out some woods, wedges and a putter.

If anyone is looking to play some golf on the weekends in the San Francisco area, hit me up.

Hello all. I've been lurking here for quite a while since pictures of new equipment always seem to pop up here first. I recognize some of you from the site I was just banned from for no reason. Yes, it's true, no reason was given other than being friends with some funny guys according to the Silverback.

Hopefully you guys won't recommend I get a flea collar anytime soon, I'm afraid a second one might give me a rash... :)

Hey Guys

Been reading for a while but I only post rarely.

I'm 23, work in Carlsbad at Acushnet in the warranty/repair dept. 2 Hdcp, graduate of the golf academy in Vista, CA.

I enjoy the site, esp the clubmaking stuff. It's always interesting to see what technologies other companies are using.

Keep the info flowin!

Hey all,

I'm Jordan, I'm from CT, down by the Casino's (yes there are casinos in CT). I play to about a scratch but am working hard to get better. I still have the "play for pay" dream going. So I'm outta college and having fun just trying to get better.

Been on other golf websites and heard lots of great things about this one. I'm looking forward to learning/contributing to this site.

Hello, I am DrawDaBall. I am looking for a new place to find all my equipment questions answered, and reading about all the new stuff before it comes out. It used to be at another website, but after the recent fiasco, I don't want to get involved in their messes.

Anyways, on a more positive note, I am getting my game back in shape after the wife having a baby 22 months ago. My game is now almost back to where it was pre-child. My last few rounds have been in the 70's, and I am looking forward in 2007 to getting it lower, and competing in some State Amateur events.

I love buying and selling equipment, and trying new stuff. Looking forward to being a part of GolfWrx!

Hello to everyone. I'm thwap (Scott) from Tacoma WA. I've been lurking here, and a few other sites, to find the one I felt best participating in. This is definitely the one.

I'm 47, and just picked up the game after about a 10 year hiatus. Played about 8 rounds in the last two months, and I'm hooked again.

I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi Thwap,

I recall the cartoon that serves as the basis for your avatar, but can't quite remember it. Can you please share what it is? I really remember liking that cartoon many years ago. Thanks.

OK here we go. I'm not that new here (111 posts) but this hasn't been my home. I've been as loyal as anyone can be in regards to the other site. Never bought alot from them, had my own sources. Never tried to kiss a** (may haved seemed like it) just tried to keep the peace. Review most of my 5000+ posts there. They were either an attempt to be funny, informative or constructive.

I hated when people started posts just to cause trouble (although I understand the motivation) - I just wanted people to move on if unhappy. I tried to tow the line and abide by all the rules (written and otherwise) and still will when I visit there. I have been loyal and compliant for years for one reason ... I loved the site. The forum, the people that became cyber friends and actual friends, the banter ... it was fun and a big part of my daily entertainment. That's gone - banned or quit, everybody left. They are all here.

GolfWRX has the info and the people to educate and entertain. I'm declaring it my new home. I've had conversations with the higher ups on this site and love the direction and tone of the site.

Now I gotta get a WITB thread going.

G we're glad to have you here. I've really missed your sarcastic comments. You and Geo are the best. I consider you a friend whether you like it or not :) . I've always had fun when whenever he get together for a round. I'll be back next summer and we'll have to play. Let me know if you're planning on coming down for the show. Maybe we can play then too. But like I said, it's great to have you on board full time. :)

Bill the Cat....from Bloom county.

My hero!

Thank you! It's been bugging me for the past day. You know when the answer to a trivia question is just on the tip of your tongue, and you fail to come up with the answer all day, and then you bolt-upright in bed in the middle of the night and shout out the answer, and your cat claws your face at the abrupt nature of your outburst, and your neighbors alert the police department because you're cursing at your cat at the top of your lungs at 3:22 AM?

No? Just me, then?

Nevermind. Thanks for helping me avoid a civil disobedience complaint, Thwap. :)

Kyle, I'm running beruo 1.0 tonight, so I'm a little slow. When you say Geo, are you referring to golow's alter ego "Geoff" or my alter ego "George?" If it's me, then I'm touched (note the double entendre). If it's him, then I feel ya (again, with the double entendre). I've been trying to ride golow's coattails and hide in the safety of his shadow for years. He is like a hero to some people, and a true hero to others. I just can't wait until he's ready to dump that Slighterized Newport. :cheesy:

Anywho (that's what they say in the Ivy league, yeah?) Geoff, I missed this post earlier. I was just glad to see you post your bag thread, but I'm always thinking ahead, and only of myself. :) I've always enjoyed your posts, at the risk of crossing "that line" I've always enjoyed your posts, finding them to be both entertaining and informative. What's more is that they were always constructive, lending much to the forum community. I sincerely hope you find that here, especially considering how much you've worked to build the community in the past. However, one word of warning; if by "conversations with the higher ups on this site" refers to the PM's we've exchanged, then I hate to break it to ya...I'm not actually a higher up. So you might want to put more stock into "the direction and tone of the site." :cheesy:

At any rate (anyway divided by 3), I am glad to see yo make Golfwrx your home. You have been a bit of a cornerstone in the lefty community for years. I look forward to seeing regular contributions from you again...aside from my weekly visits over there and doing a "find golow's posts" search. :)

Geo :)

1. I know you are not a higher up ... stock boy, night janitor whatever your title is :)

and B don't drop accolades and then ask for the Tungsten Newport in the next sentence. If you've read my posts over the years like you claim then you will remember that you should suck up in the body of the work. You should ask for an item or any favor in a post script with a veiled attempt to make it look like an afterthought. Like "Oh BTW ..."

Word. I got all that. In all my years if there's one thing I've learned by watching you, it's how to be smoove. (accolade) It's just in all my observation I've learned that you like to play teacher (incidentally, one of the words used for doctor/healer also means teacher). (smokescreen) I was just providing you an opportunity to teach one more time. (what I'm going to do for you) Anyway, welcome again G-baby. (obligatory nickname).

:) (random avatar, but serves as a possible smoovish, yet subliminal segue to...)

Sooo, have you given any thought to that putter we were talking about. :cheesy:

edit: I just reread what I wrote. I didn't ask you for the putter. It was the afterthought in my private conversation with Kyle. But if it makes you feel better, I wasn't actually angling for it, until such a point in time that you decide to sell, then the hat is in the ring (and I assume about 3 or 4 hats back in line). winkie-winkie :cheesy:

I've seen alot of folks on here in the few days I've been a member that know me from that other site as well as others (rbl990). I am pleased to have found this place (I've been out of the loop for a while now it seems... :) ), because it seems to exemplify the sort of things that originally attracted to me the other site. Cool equipment, good members, and an even better attitude. I'm looking forward to surfing this site in the future, looks like it's going to be my new hangout.

Geoff,

Good to see you hear bud. Don't believe everything you hear, I don't even play golf. Although I am interested in some of those aerial course shots you told me you had one time.

:)

Hey everyone,

I am Ryan from Connecticut, posted and viewed quite a bit on the other site, but like many before me had enough of it and their childish games. I play to about an 8, trying to get down to a 5 within the next year. Always love trying new equipment and look forward to learning and contributing to this site.

Hi all, Ritchie from the UK. Been a member of the other site for 2 1/2 years. I've been lurking here for 4 months or so, not really posted anything, just been looking for deals from other UK members.

I'll be here a bit more from now on, not banned just lost a bit of interest with the other place to be honest.

Anyway, I already like what I see here!!

Hello everyone. My name is Tony and I'm from Michigan. I'm a designer (non-golf related) and I really enjoy the site because people post a ton of picts within their posts. Theis is one of the sites that brings me some enjoyment in a otherwise mudane workday.

Hello all!

I'm also a refugee from the "other" site. Haven't been banned but just lost the joy because all of the drama. As you can see, I've been a member here for a while but haven't been active-- expecting to change all that from here on out.

This place feels comfortable with all the familiar names.

Looking forward to getting to know y'all better.

I'm new here. My name's Brad. I'm originally from Boston (North Shore) and grew up playing golf around there. I've played most of the courses north of Boston and a few in Maine. Favorite course is my a new private course which just opened up Renaissance Golf Club in Haverhill which my family belongs to. Designed by Brian Silva and it's great IMO.

Moved down to NYC over a year ago and although I live in Manhattan, squeezed in about 40 rounds last year. Got to play Bethpage Black twice which was quite the challenge and Morefar on a client visit which was the most bizarre course ever. I may be one of the only avid golfers who rides the subway to go play golf on a regular basis but down here you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm down to meet up with and play with anyone in the MA or Tri-State area. Who's got connections @ Winged Foot? LOL.
