Tee it up with tiger

Found Platinum Ball too late!!??
So i had a tournament today, so last night i pull a new sleeve of Nike One Platinums out of the box i bought a week or so ago to mark them in preperation for the tournament. Wouldn't you know, a Shiny silver golf ball falls out of the package! Says tee it up with tiger on it and has the little logo and a serial number on it, as well as a little card inside that says "congratulations..."

So i about have a heart attack, and then make a couple of excited phone calls and then log on to Teeitupwith tiger.com ... only to find out the contest ended in August :russian_roulette: .

Don't i get anything for this??!! I thought the Karma from being a true believer in Nike products (See My Signiture) had finally come full circle, only to have my dreams crushed.

You'd think i could at least get a new dozen out of it since i only have 11 in the Doz. that are playable.

It's not a golden ticket that ensures you get a tour of the Wonka candy factory. The platinum ball only got you in a running with thousands of other people who also found a platinum ball. Good find though. Sucks you found it late. Would've been neat to at least have had a chance, albeit a small one.

Yeah, i knew that... but, if you read the rules (I did) there were only 2000 made and less put in circulation (It was based on sales). I think about 525 were entered... but out of the whole United States, that's not too many. It said somewhere that the odds were like 1.8:1 or something of winning something (If you had the silver ball), i'll take those chances any day!!

There was a story in the local paper recently about a local boy who saved up his money and bought a box of the Nike One Platinums. Wouldn't you know it, he find a silver ball. But after reading the rules of the contest he found out that he was too young to enter. So he had his dad enter and his dad WON! Talk about awesome luck. But get this, they would only allow the dad on the course. The boy was not allowed to be anywhere near the course. Golf Digest got wind of this and they made it right, they hired the boy for the day to cover the event. So he was given a press pass and he was allowed to be on the course. The boy got to hang out with Tiger and there was a picture in the paper with he and his dad posing with Tiger.

For the record, there were 24 winners out of a possible 2000 - not just one, and the odds were 1:83.34 to win according to the web-site. People were able to enter as mentioned through the web-site without making a purchase or finding a platinum ball, so even if only 525 of the actual balls were registered, I'm sure the other 1475 were filled via the web entries (that's how I got mine) as this was a 4 month contest! So, good find on the ball as a souvenir, but since there are still several of them out there floating around, I don't see Nike offering anything.

The 24 winners got to attend a TW clinic and play an 18 hole round, but not with Tiger. They get / got to hit one tee shot with Woods, but since the prize was in October and Tiger isn't hitting balls yet, I'm guessing they missed out on the tee shot part.

I beleive the Golf Channel is doing a special on the lucky guy that won the contest starting on the 26th-28th. It could have been you! Good score with the ball though. :good:

I believe that the Golf Channel is going to cover the Buick contest where Tiger caddied for the winner for nine holes (back nine) of the round.

Yup. A guy I used to work with in Bloomington IN was one of the winners, and the story said Tiger joined them on the 10th tee, posed for pictures, and then "coached" their play the rest of the hole (hit your approach left though it looks right; putt breaks at the end so aim right, etc.). So yea, Tig wasn't touching a club or doing any swinging.

But man, what a ride that would have been. My friend said Tiger was really nice, really funny, and very relaxed.

That ball is sweet. I'd totally buy a little glass case for it even if I didn't get to meet Tiger or get a single prize out of it.

I bought one off eBay and got the box it came in along with the actual certificate. I will not mention how much I paid for it. Slot more than I paid for the One black ball.

You guys have NO IDEA how hard it is to get the lighting right to take a picture of a shiny ball with a cheapo Kodak digital camera!!

Call me lame guy if I only had the chance of a lifetime to play alongside Tiger for one hole.

ok, you are lame... win a chance to play ONE HOLE with him??? yes, that is LAME. if i won, id just sell it rather than fly cross country to play one lousy hole with him. he isnt a god. personally, id rather play a hole with someone who has a personality like Rocco Mediate or Lee Trevino. but seriously, just buy a lil plastic case for it. makes for a nice collectible.
