Small face dent

Will it effect my ball?

I recently purchased an R7 Tour Issue and noticed that the face has a very minor dent near the heal. The exact location is on the outside of the 2nd and 3rd grove from the bottom closest to the heel. I have not hit the club and only noticed it when the reflection from a light was slightly altered off of the club face. I have to really feel for the spot and can't see it in normal light. I know you might think I am crazy for asking but will this effect the performance?

It will change performance. I had a 580XD and the face dented in (defect). The dent was very difficult to see in most light BUT before I realized it had dented I noticed I lost about 10-15 yards on my local course and was out of position all the time. I was going nuts trying to figure out what happened in my swing. Well, it turned out to be the club. The replacement had me back in the same spots I expected on the course.

I was going nuts trying to figure out what happened in my swing. Well, it turned out to be the club. The replacement had me back in the same spots I expected on the course.

Wow! It's wierd that you mentioned the 580XD with a dent in the face. My friend had a 580XD and he was loosing yardage and spraying it (further) right. Took a really close look and there was a small dent in the face near the heel off the center of the club. He don't have a blazing swing speed either, maybe 90 MPH. Certainly a defect. Simp

Yeah, after some research I found out that it's a known issue/defect and common with the 580. I'll bet you a significant number of people have the dent starting but don't realize it. Taylor just replaces them when presented (at least that's what I was told and that's exactly what happened, no questions asked).

Thank you everyone for your comments.

I sent the club back to where it came from. A heads up to everyone, TM does not do any work on a Tour Issue club. They really don't even want to talk about Tour Issue stuff. For all the people out there that say Retail & Tour Issued clubs are the same, they are not. It is obvious that they treat the Tour Issued clubs like a red headed step child because they are different. I am not saying one is better then the other, I am just saying they are different.
