Ping Shaft Change from csi lite stiff to zz-65

Hi all

I am sending my clubs inot Ping to have them change the shafts form Cs Lite stiff (to whippy) to ss-65 softstepped once. Gentlemand on the Ping phone said charge of 32.50 per club fro shaft change but also said that they will charge addl money for swingweight chage. 14.00 per club. I mentioned to the gentelmean that if you chage the shaft it will change the swingweight so what if i wanted to chage the shaft yet remain the same swingweight *which I don't) wouldn't you still have to make the adjustment with the port. He said know because (changing a shaft to anotherwith a different weight does not change the swingweigt. Does that make sense? Has anybody had any experiecne w/ that?

Also, I was lloking to get a top rail grind done on the clubs (15.00). Anybody have any experience with that?

i don't remember the static weight of the CS Lite and the ZZ-65, but I beleive the are very close to the same weight, so Ping customer service may be correct about it not changing swing weight. Now the comment about a heavier shaft not changing the swing weight is just plain wrong.

 

My suggestion is tell them you want the ZZ-65's softstepped once and the irons re-swing weighted to your desired swing weight. If they don't have to change anything, then you shouldn't be charged for them just checking the swing weight.

The shaft could affect the SW but only a little. The CS Lite & ZZ are not that far apart in static weight from what I recall. The SW change he is referring to is the tuning port adjustment. They pop that blue Ping graphic off the back of the iron & add weight accordingly. You're getting a bargain BTW. When I had mine done it was $18 per club. Good luck.

According to the Ping website, there is only a 2g weight difference between the two shafts in stiff flex (107g vs 109g). I'd say the Ping rep was right about there being no SW change from swapping these two shafts.

No - I asked him if I put a rife shaft in 125g, he said the same thing - no change in swingweight. He also told me before customer service he worked in Ping's WRX dept!
