fubuki vs. xcon5

which is longer?
i'm a lowball hitter and had some good results with the xcon5. later in the season seems like i lost my driving so i'm not sure what happened. i'm usually a 95-100+ swing.

i've seen alot of good feedback on the fubuki but mostly on guys coming from the blue boards. i hit the ball too low for the BB to work for me. what should i expect from a fubuki?

Fubuki hits it as high as any premium shaft I have ever hit. Spin is low too.

I would think if the Con5 starts going sideways this would be an easy shaft to transfer to. Its a bit heavier with the same high launch low spin concept

hows the fubuki perform vs the whiteboard??

Check their website http://www.mitsubishirayongolf.com/global.php!!!

WB are different specs: tip stiff, lower torque, 3" tip section, higher kick point, even feel are different.

To all readers,

Get your complete LM data first to be able to get fitted properly and pick the right spec shaft. Asking a lot things without it could still mislead you into the wrong selection and waste of time to be honest!

so i went and tested my current setup vs. 2 clubs.

my club is a nike squared tour 9.5 with matrix x-con5 in stiff

second club was a callaway ft-iq 10.5 with fubuki stiff

third club was a newer adams with ozik shaft. I forget exactly which model. But it was a 10.5.

the second number is the computers optimal for me.

the ball was a tp black

so now i have more questions than answers. i'm thinking of dumping the tour and doing a squared dymo with a fubuki. not sure which will work best for me. the callway is just odd to hit. i liked the fubuki and it seemed like i hit the adams the best. ?!?!?!?!?!

Get the Adams head and drop a Fubuki 63 X in it and you should be good to go. That would be a sick combo actually. I just thought of my next driver combo LOL.

yeah i have to say that adams head felt good. i'm a nike ho what can i say. it was almost "weird" to look down at a traditional head.

With that SS you would be better served in an X flex..curious why you play stiff? At least a strong with the matrix shaft...not surprising faster club speed with lighter weight x con5 shaft.

BINGO! Good catch there! :)

Plus, I would pick the one gave me the best FEEL in my hand to give me the most FW hits. I wouldn't worry about distance anymore.

I have the Adams A4 tech with a Fubuki 73X, and I just switched from a FT-5 tour with X Con 6. Both were 8.5*. The Adams is longer by about 9-12 yards, straighter, spins less, and feels MUCH better. I don't think I've EVER hit a shaft that feels as smooth as the Fubuki, while at the same time being really tough to overpower. It feels a lot like the Blueboard, launches maybe a touch higher for me than the Blueboard, and spins like the Whiteboard, or maybe just a touch less. If you get the right loft in the Adams, you will have one NASTY combo!

thanks for the advice guys.

i just can't hit adams hybrids, and hitting that driver required some concentration. i'm sure I can adjust. actually my lowest SS was with the nike tour with the lighter x-con. so now i wonder if i should just get a stock head and not the tour version.

it is also hard to say if the fubuki would keep me straighter. the numbers show it's pretty much the same, but i was also very weirded out by the way the ft-iq looks. i prefer the adams over the cally head. maybe fubuki in adams is the answer.

as for the flex, if i stayed with x-con i would definitely go strong. i have yet to find an extra stiff shaft that worked well for me. i had an x-stiff bassara that stayed straight but went nowhere. i tried an x-stiff blue board and that thing was nothing but low liners, again no distance. I had an x-stiff red board and that would go as far as my x con but I was swinging out of my shoes and in that case the x-con gave me better dispersion.

the final shaft before the x-con was a rombax 6x07 i believe. the gold one, and it felt great but for every bomb I would have 3 or 4 smothered hooks.

Thanks for the launch numbers on these clubs. I noticed, though, that you listed a 10.5 FT-IQ, but Callaway doesn't offer that much loft in the tour model. Which FT-IQ model and loft did you actually hit?

it actually was the 10. sorry i messed that up.

i can't say that shaft felt that much different than the xcon to be honest.

however i am getting a great deal on a new nike dymo2. so now i have to wonder...

dymo2 9.5 or 10.5?

fubuki or keep the x-con. i can get it with the fubuki so why not?

i play the tour now so the dymo should launch higher since it is not tour. thus should i keep it at the 9.5?

also thinking stiff or x-stiff? i know matrix is usually a little softer and mitsu will run stiffer correct?

Big difference the non-tour spec version is not the actual retail fubuki

i was reading the other threads that said as much last night. there seems to be an argument on whether the real one launches lower or higher. the general consensus is higher it seems. would you two agree?

I can't tell you for sure about the launch of the "real" Fubuki vs. the "made for Callaway" Fubuki since I haven't hit them both in the same head. However, in hitting a 9.5* FT-IQ Tour vs. a 10* FT-IQ (non-tour), the 10* launched about 1 degree higher than the 9.5* -- at least for me. How much of that is the shaft vs. the head, I don't know. I also thought that the "real" Fubuki felt a bit more solid and controllable, while the other Fubuki seemed a little less tight. This was indoors, however, so i couldn't get a real good look at ball flight.
