TM Tour Burner TP Reshaft

Hello all, this is my first post on here, but I'm hoping to gain a little bit of insight.

 

I currently have a TM Tour Burner TP 9.5 degree with the Fujikura Rombax Stiff flex shaft. It performs ok for me, but a little inconsistent. Drives are typically in the 250-275 range, typical miss is a bit of a hook, but very consistent medium trajectory ball flight.

 

Prior to playing this driver, I used a Ping G10 Driver, 9 degree loft with a stiff flex Grafalloy Prolaunch Red shaft. With this driver I was typically in the 260-280 range, typical miss was still a bit of a hook, however much more consistent dispersion, and a slightly more inconsistent, lower trajectory ball flight. All in all however, much better results than the TBTP.

 

My question is, if I were to reshaft the TBTP with a Grafalloy Prolaunch Red...do you think I would possibly begin seeing some of the more consistent results I was seeing with the G10?

 

I probably never should've traded the G10 in, but I just liked the look/price I got on the TBTP too much to pass it up.

 

Any thought/opions on this would be much appreciated!

Sometimes that works and sometimes it does not(switching the shafts). What is the weight of the Pro Launch?. It is possible that you are generating more club head speed with the Ping driver b/c of the lighter shaft. The Rombax in the TM is a great shaft but not for everyone. Keep in mind that the shaft in the Ping is probably a 350 tip while the TM is a 335 Tip.

I believe the weight on the prolaunch red is 65 grams, versus 74 grams for the Rombax.

 

Not sure what my swing speed with the G10 was, but it ranges from about 102-106 with the Rombax. (have gone up as high as 113 really going after one, but I care more about consistency than distance).

 

Part of the reason I went with the TBTP to begin with is that I would've thought a bit heavier of a shaft would be a little more consistent.

sell the tp.... i reshafted my 5 times and its a hook machine... even got a tour head (b stamped) that was bent open even more from a tour pro and it help the hooks, but still not that consistent... honeslty.... get rid of the head...

With a fade bias how can it be a hook machine. Ive hit it before and its an awesome club.

 

Maybe try a TP with one of the other lighter shafts??? Maybe someone on here will trade you.

Prolaunch Red is definitely 65gr and is a great shaft that can be had a very reasonable price. Another great shaft is the UST V2, which could be a nice alternative. I would suggest you try a demo TB TP with another shaft before you spend any money. I tried one with the stock shaft in an x-flex and was hitting it great--long and straight and my driver has a r-flex

I have the 65g Diamana WB in mine X flex and LOVE IT.. try that shaft out you might like it.

Yes, you can hook the driver, but it's because of a bad swing or a really bad shaft. The TBTP is an excellent clubhead, but you have to get the right shaft.

 

If you liked the PL Red in the G10, chances are you will like it in the TBTP, too. You will probably pick up some swing speed with the lighter PL Red shaft versus the Rombax. You will have to get a PL Red with a 0.335" tip since the G10 is 0.350" diameter, but they are pretty cheap.

Try a more stout shaft if you hook it... maybe an epic tour, or a whiteboard, or a pershing (if funds are kinda low)

The TBTP would be considered the anti hook machine. You said G10 Hit to low. So by changing the shaft it is not going to fix your problem. Maybe try a shaft with a more responsive tip section. See if you can find the stock Matrix shaft that was an option with the club, im sure you can find one.

I have a 2007 burner tp open faced with an epic tour 75 in it...definetly an anti left club and has great feel and stability...I also have a three wood with a prolaunch platinum 85 which is super stable with great feel...reason I mention it is that I heard that the new line of prolaunch blues and reds are sharing the fastply technology with the Axis same as the platinum, and you might find this tweak the ticket for you...

yeah, if it's a hook machine for you then it's the swing not the club.

 

I can hit a hook with the best of them, and since putting the TBTP in the bag, I've had my best sustained driving success ever. The club isn't magic, and my swing has become very solid since putting it in the bag, but it's definitely not a hook machine. Believe me, if it was a hook machine it'd be as far from my bag as possible.

 

Now the regular retail Tour Burner, non TP...I could agree it produces a hook from time to time.
