Frequency matched irons

Apologies if this has already been covered but can anyone advise how important it is to have a set of irons that are frequency matched? A while ago I had my then brand new MP60's tested on a frequency analyser and was fairly horrified at how far from S300 they really were.

 

Any thoughts/opinions welcome.

which way were they off?

where they factory or did some put new shafts in them?

if you just grab some shaft and heads and glue together there going to be all over the place. if the shafts are put in with labels all in one direction there going to be all over the place. most factory sets will be all over the place flex wise

The stickers can be put on in all direction if they are aftermarket shafts they put the shaft labels in the box. Spine or pure them, frequency match, glue and then put the shaft labels on last.

 

Anything from factory dealing with shafts is garbage, they are to worried about profit margin AND NOT THE CUSTOMER!!!

Dynamic Golds are not meant to be frequency matched. The are a weight sorted shaft.

You can, as previous poster mentioned get them very close with sorting and aligning them.

It is a fair amount of work that non of the OEM's care to do.

Frequency Matching is the MOST IMPORTANT THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shafts are the engine of the club, a fancy head with a bad shaft will still not perform.

 

You can do Flatline where the shafts are all the same

 

Gouping frequency, you can take 2 or 3 clubs and do them in certain frequencies.

(3,4,5 300frequency) (6,7,8 310frequency) and so on

 

Gradiant Slope or Rifle there is 4.3 numbers between each club

 

Remember proper head weights have alot to do with getting a really good freuency match set of clubs. Alot of OEM companies head weights are all over the place so they are alot harder to frequncy than say a set of Miura, Vega's even KZG'S. These companies will put he heads 6grams apart between every club for the 1/2inch difference between each club.

To be honest I don't remember now which way they were off. I was too busy being amazed at how poor the clubs were set up. Lofts were all over the place, inconsistent lengths etc etc.

 

With regard to Dynamic Golds not meant to be frequency matched, that wasn't what I was told my the clubfitter I used. I guess everyone has differing opinions!

Its not an opinion, DG's aren't frequency matched. If you want them matched its down to you/the clubmaker to do so, it means have 3-4 sets of shafts to sort through and try make a matched set.

 

As for the DG's frequencies being all over the place, they are crap for it, in my experience. Headweights play a part too, and mizuno are notoriously crap for that too.
