Refinished my TM Rescue TP Hybrid

Hey Guys,

What do you think. I wanted more of a retro look. I took my Taylor Made Rescue TP Hybrid and stripped the paint using a Automotive Paint Stripper, and then doing a whole ton of sanding on it to even everything up using 120 up to 600 grit sandpaper.

I love the look of it now.

It's now shafted with a Grafalloy C-Note Prototype, White Ferrule and Red/White/Blue Karakal Grip.

I did this on a driver once, but it got too bright for me to use :( Did you do your whole club, or just the sole?

I did the whole driver I had it candy painted I don't know if you saw my post just search candy paint and you should see it. I like the old school look of all metal I polished it more since I took that pic since I'm going to keep it bare metal till my black chrome kit comes in so I can match it to my irons.

Nice C dog, I like that retro look.   If you can get that black chrome and maybe make a smoked look, THAT would be sweet!  Leave the bottom the same though and maybe yellow paintfills?

Ask mrsmokey.  He mentioned ordering one and said it was coming.  He stripped his driver down.  The smoke may take some the the glare away but still leave it clean and unique.

Reminds me of the original Raylor (not the 2nd generation one). I have one of those in my locker, still a sweet club. Like the makeover :)

It was would great if you could get a little bead blasting done on the crown to give it the old Titleist PT look.

Anyone remember that green re-finishing liquid back in the eighties that came with three different steel wool/SOS type pads? It did a great job on all the old TaylorMade woods when they all had the basic grey steel finish.

Spent many an hour making my raylor and burner 3 wood nice and shiny!

golfebj read my mind. Bead blast the top where the black was....paintfill the logo black, and I am OFF to the store to start this project with mine....lol. Of course I don't have the cool shaft. I might try to find an all black shaft to put in it. Maybe a charcoal black steel shaft or an Ozik Altus or even a 904HB.

There's another C-Note Prototype for sale on ebay right now. You might try the KBS Black Chrome Wedge Shafts. or, if you can find one, a DGS400 Shaft.

 

I am trying to find somewhere where I can get this blasted at. Tried 2 places so far, but no luck :(

I am still looking for a place here that can do it. The guy I normally would use has gone out of business in the economy.

 

There's gotta be somewhere. LOL

 

I do agree, a Satin Beadblast would be killer

You can do it the cheap way by masking off the hosel & sole and spraying it w/ a matte or dull finish clear coat. At least that will help keep the glare down until you can have it blasted.

This is exactly why I like the old version of the Adams Peanut. Wish they kept the all grey slick finish with the PNT2.

Nice job. Kinda reminds me of the times in the late 80s, early 90s when the 1st TM Tour Burner Metal woods came out. We used to steel whool the finish off the top. It looked like that.

Thought of doing that. Main concern would be that it would weaken the head leading to it cracking.

Hi guys,

 

I had an old tp burner in the garage all tatty. I just thought what the hell lets give it a new lease of life. I had a DGS300 3 wood shaft which was lucky!! After working on it and putting a soft bead blast on the head this is how it turned out. My very first attempt with the blast cabinet.

I used a fine glass bead media and about 70psi on the compressor as I didn't want a course finish
