Tour Pros Using Ribbed Grips vs. Round

I was researching random golf stuff and found that pros like Villegas and Toms use ribbed grips vs round. I'm not sure whether they use ribbed for their whole set or just a portion of it, but was wondering if anyone knew more specifically which tour pros use ribbed grips. I was also wondering if these pros use ribbed grips throughout their entire set or just part of the set (ex. just their woods).

I know that Brad Faxon does.

 

Also, I can't imagine anyone doing it for only one part of their set.

You can go to PING's website.....they list all of their staffers, with club specs for each. At least 1/2 of their staffers use a reminder in their grips. RwF

I remember reading about Harrington's Gp victory grips that he plays with a rib actually to one side. It's interesting to see how pros have really specific grip customizations- Mark Brooks puts his victory's on 5* open for example. Also, many players will use ribbed grips on all clubs except wedges because you want to be able to play them open or closed for certain shots.

I put the grip on my driver so that it would sit open slightly. For me it was more mental than anything. But they where round not reminders. Pretty much pointless. LOL

I prefer ribbed grips myself, tried to switch to round last year, but will go back to victorys next year.

 

Tour pros can get away with it since the same guy probably regrips his stuff all the time, that is the biggest challenge trying to get them on the same every time, its almost a ceremony when I do it...

 

I want to say DLIII uses ribs, or at least used to.

 

Harrington's set up is nuts.

Golf World did an article about ribbed grips this past summer, it said about 60% of tour players use ribbed grips.

Got a set of Ping G5's with the ribbed grips. I like them and will eventually regrip all my clubs with them.

i cant get comfortable with round grips...id probably shoot about 5 strokes a round higher if i had to play with them....eventually id get used to them, but it would be hell for awhile.

I can. Lots of guys use them on drivers because is slows your hands down through the swing and prevents your grip from getting too strong. I would think you wouldnt see too many on wedges since you manipulate the face angle so much. I have them on my driver 3 wood hybrid 3 and 4 iron.

I hope Golf Pride never pulls some bone-head manuveur and gets rid of ribbed grips. I'm really surprised they do not offer the option in all of their grips.

I have them on all clubs bar wedges. I also have Gripmasters on all clubs bar wedges.

I recalled reading an article over 15 years ago mentioning that Greg Norman played with ribs up. I'm not sure if he still does or not.

 

I do like playing with ribbed grips and it's kind of frustrating not being able to find some premium grips with ribs as almost everyone carry round grips nowdays which is what I have now.

I'm not a ribbed fan at all, but PING makes some pretty good corded ribbed grips. You can usually do a google search, and find them at a pretty good price.
