Snake Eyes Tour Platinum Putter

OnFire

Recommended Posts

Just put together my 7801 last week. Used the Snake Eyes Stepless shaft. This putter is awesome. Great feel on short-mid range putts.

The ball definitely skids quite a bit on lag putts though. I thought the ARC technology was supposed to greatly decrease this.

Have others found skidding on long putts with the Tour Platinum or does my stroke need some work?

I'd hate to be the mean one and say it is your stroke, but I have not found a single other golfers that has experienced "quite a bit of" or any skidding on long putts. Our putting robot was set up for some really long putts during testing and showed next to no skidding on striking the ball. Flight Scope also did some testing with us and found similar results.

Here is the article: http://www.worldgolf.com/newswire/browse/5...-putter-testing

Thanks for the response. I've definitely still been experiencing skidding ( I mean you can hear it clearly) on long putts.

I'm sure it's me and not the putter, but what does this mean? Did I build the club too long or too short. Am I hitting the top of the ball?

I've always been a decent putter so I'm wondering what specifically in a putting stroke can cause skidding?

I'm going to say that more than likely you are either setting up with your hands behind the ball and the shaft leaning back. Or your wrist is breaking down. Either of these will add too much loft to the putter, making the ball hop and skid.

This putter rolls the ball better than anything I've ever used.

I was thinking a similar thing about your stroke somehow adding loft to the putter face on impact. Setting up behind the ball will have the face impacting the ball on the upswing witch increases the loft. Try placing the ball back in your stance and then putting. If the putter face connects with the ball on the downswing it could possibly improve the roll that you are looking for.

sshadow2: Not knowing much about your club builder from ebay I can't insure you about the assembly of the product but knowing how the putter performs I can say that it rolls off the face very well and has a good sound to it.

Got my 7805 yesterday. I was a little disappointed in that from all the pics, this one looks like it has the most distinguishable sight line. It does not...Looks just like the others with the sight line being the same color as the rest of the head.

Oh well, I'll fire up my paint fill set and do it myself. I am putting a UST freq. filter shaft and Iomic black grip on it. Should end up pretty sweet. The head is sharp looking, nice edges!

I assume he's assuming just the way the model looks is "European" style. :dntknw:

There are no differences between a US and European model of the Putters. We did not do anything different to the putters for different markets.

what exactly is skim milled and how is is different (inferior?) to cnc milled?

Basically they don't use a large block, which, I believe, some people think gives a putter a more pure/softer/impressive feel to the putter. But who gives a hoot? If you look in the Scotty page on WRX right now that is up to like 80 pages, apparently Tiger's putter is cast and then skim milled, so it's all about what you prefer. That putter made more money than any other in the world.

(Knowingly) resurrecting a crazy old thread...

Curious if anyone out there is still gaming a SE Tour Platinum. Have played Snake Eyes clubs in about every spot in the bag at one point or another. For whatever reason I've become kind of enamored with tour platinum line. And have been on the lookout for a 7802 or 7812 (not sure if there's actually a difference). Intrigued by the face tech and like the 7802/7812 head design. Just not sure if it's worth the effort to continue trying to track one down.
