Sorry...Heel shafted with the shaft going right into the head. Clean & effective.

How about a face-balanced, double bend, no offset blade !!

Nice line of putter heads...

double bend heel or center shafted? with a hosel or have the shaft go right into the head?

Like the Titleist Cameron Studio Select?

Do one like that but only like the Squareback. That would be super cool. a style a lot like the Yes! putter Stenson used to win the Players last weekend.

  • 4 weeks later...

My 7803 is FIRMLY in the bag, having proven itself several times this season.

I took a few other putters to the putting green recently and noticed that most of them were exhibiting noticable backspin on impact. The face of my 7803 allows the ball to leave the face with little or no backspin. I am convinced that this has contributed to the successes that I have enjoyed with the putter. It remains the heaviest of my putters, but this is a good thing for my game.

Here is a photo of my 7801 and 7805 Tour Platinum Putters along with two other putters that I have in my collection.

That Lynx Paralign putter looks sweet

Thanks. It is a prototype putter that will unfortunately never go to market. :(

Where did you get it?

I work for Golfsmith and helped in the design of the Putter, Grip and Headcover. The team never got to a point where they were 100% happy with how the project looked and cost. I just happened to get one of the prototypes and assembled it after the program was scrapped. The putter has some good design traits and I may look back to it to help create a simpler and more effective design later.

I just found my next putter! I love how Golfsmith/Snake Eyes listens!!!!!!

Bortwein, if you had anything to do with this, THANK YOU !!!!

I didn't do a lot but I was a part of it. The R&D team came up with the idea and design. I just helped put the graphics on it.

So since we are listening tell me more of what you might like to see out of the Tour Platinum line. I have some ideas I have been pitching to the team already and it would be interesting to see if I'm on the right track (without telling you what I have already thought of).

The SV1 in the platinum would be worth trying to hide from my wife :man_in_love: :black eye:

I'm going to build a Tour Platinum putter in the next couple of weeks. Can someone help describe the main differences between the 7801, 7802, 7803, 7804.

I've read the specs but I can't decide which is the right one for me. Can someone explain the differences in laymans terms?? Do some of them address the ball more upright or tilted?

Is the 7802 supposed to be like a Newport 2?? I would really appreciate some insight before I place my order. Thanks!

I don't think any of them address the ball any differently when it come to Tilt or being more upright.

If you are talking about the look and design of the hosel n the putter the 7801 is more like the Newport 2. The 7802 has more like an Odyssey hosel transition.

Here is the address view of all the putter together.

I played a another new course today. Greens were slower then I am used to and I did have two three putts due to slower greens (at first). I shot 75 with my SNAKE EYES TOUR PLATINUM 7803 and it is FIRMLY in the bag for some time to come. I love the feel and the LACK of backspin coming off the face.

The 7803 is a half shaft offset, 360 grams (+/- about two grams) with toe hang in the four o'clock range (more or less). I have been using the SNAKE EYES STEPLESS SHAFT (about $5.99 from G-SMITH) with obvious success (two of my last three rounds in the seventies, I am about a 12-14 HCP; my putting has put me in the seventies). I did counterweight the butt end with about twenty grams of weight and the heavier GOLF PRIDE V-RAD grip (SNAKE EYES LOGO). Hope this helps, this putter is THE BOMB :clapping:

Just put together my 7801 last week. Used the Snake Eyes Stepless shaft. This putter is awesome. Great feel on short-mid range putts.

The ball definitely skids quite a bit on lag putts though. I thought the ARC technology was supposed to greatly decrease this.

Have others found skidding on long putts with the Tour Platinum or does my stroke need some work?

I think the ball comes off the head with almost NO skidding or backspin. I recently took a few of my other putters to the practice green and felt the ball spinning backwards and slowing down as a result. I am convinced that this head/face design is the reason that my lag putting has been so good and I am putting well with my 7803.

I'd hate to be the mean one and say it is your stroke, but I have not found a single other golfers that has experienced "quite a bit of" or any skidding on long putts. Our putting robot was set up for some really long putts during testing and showed next to no skidding on striking the ball. Flight Scope also did some testing with us and found similar results.

Thanks for the response. I've definitely still been experiencing skidding ( I mean you can hear it clearly) on long putts.

I'm sure it's me and not the putter, but what does this mean? Did I build the club too long or too short. Am I hitting the top of the ball?

I've always been a decent putter so I'm wondering what specifically in a putting stroke can cause skidding?

I'm going to say that more than likely you are either setting up with your hands behind the ball and the shaft leaning back. Or your wrist is breaking down. Either of these will add too much loft to the putter, making the ball hop and skid.

This putter rolls the ball better than anything I've ever used.

I have a 7805 on the way from a clubfitter on Ebay. I'm very excited but a little wary that I couldn't play with it beforehand. Has anyone regretted the purchase? How does its roll compare to the Rife Abaco, and the Cleveland Classic #2? Coming from my recently returned Black Series i #9, my main concern is good roll without too much "ting" (that I especially get from Cally balls).
