Wedge hunting. 52, 56, 60

Chikara, Sakamoto, Zodia, Kenmochi etc.

Merely impossible to test all the following clubs. Appreciate any opinions from anyone who owns them. Also need information on where to purchase them. Currently using MG702 ** stiff original wedges, is it a good idea to get heads from the following manufacturers and place them on my shafts? Any tips will be helpful.

IMO you should get the Chikara wedges. You won't be sorry. They are very versatile, forgiving for a blade design and spin the ball like crazy.

my two cents worth is a vote for either chikara or fourteen v24. both are very versatile and spin like crazy. :russian_roulette:

chikaras are great but they scuff the ball way to much for me. The fourteens have been selling like crazy and the newer v4s look great at address, nothing but great reviews from fourteen and they are very similar to the BV spin milled ones i had(the way the look not perform) except have better feel

I think I am sold on the Chikara. Should I purchase them off Carlton or are there any place that can offer me a better deal. Also, should put just the heads on my Honma ** shafts?

I've seen ads for Kenoochi wedges in Japanese golf magazine once in awhile but have never seen them at golf store anywhere in Japan. Hardly anyone knows about Sakamoto, especially in Japan. Where are they sold besides web stores? I have never seen an ad, official website or an actual wedge in Japan. Is David Whitlam (Gauge) producing new wedges now?

Dave Whitlam forged two wedges (52 and 58) last summer and you can get them now. There is also a newer gague design wedge that came out last year. The gauge is slightly more expensive though.

I game Sakamoto 52 and a 56 bent to 58. With Black Gold shafts they are the best of all the wedges I have ever played. Feel is good, grind is versatile, the black finish lasts incredibly well and you can spin the ball any way you want.

Totally genuine and easy to use in every situation. Tried to buy some more but Golfasaurus stopped selling them. I am relieved that the faces are just as good as the day they arrived.

If I cannot find more of these I will probably use Zodia.

I have read of a new series of Zodia wedges due to come out this year.

I have seen the new Gauge Design wedges-black and very nice. Priced to me at 150 per or so, 165 with KBS black shafts.

I am a Zodia fan. US Spec series. They are light in weight so might want to add some weight. They are ball spinning maniacs. I have used mine for three seasons now and they aren't the balleaters they were. However I liked them super spinning because I could control them around the green and always count on that first bounce check. Now that doesn't happen as it used to so I don't chip in near as much. I recommend Zodia without reservation. Gotten awfully expensive though.

I am lucky enough to play some csutom Zodia wedges which I had made at their factory in Japan by Chiba himself. No names mentioned but he grinds for some of the greatest players. He even did the wedges for a very famous major win recently which was clinched by an awsome pitch shot.

They are awesome.
