Rut Roh.. I think I'm about to become a poser...

What do I do? Can I stop myself now or should I just roll with it?

Long story short. (sort of)

Just got back into golf a few years ago. Pretty decent club ho. Always played Nike PD softs until about a year ago when, after discovering that clubs were not going to fix my game, decided that new balls couldn't hurt to try as well. I then became a club and ball ho. I am the stereotypical jackass that keeps golf companies in business by trying to buy my game through new clubs and balls every year. I've played almost every ball (literally) from "junk" to "tour" except Srixons and ProV1's. It's a cheap way to keep the game new without buying a club.

Srixons were just never on my radar and I've always considered ProV's a *total* poser ball. I seem fine with any other Titleist. I even gamed the extremes for a while. ProVs? No way. The high pose factor has been proven over and over as I watch hackers worse than me (hard to find) dump ProVs into ravines and bushes on a regular basis.

A week ago I find a Prov1x. Instead of giving it to my playing partner (part of my anti-ProV1 campaign), I decide to use it on a hole where I usually lose balls anyway. It felt pretty good. *Maybe* as good as any other ball I'd tried. I lost it in a creek three holes later. "Adios poser ball" I thought as I pulled out my Vapor to finish the round.

But, like any good ball ho, I couldn't get those three V1x holes out of my head. It was compelling enough that instead of buying some RX's I bought a case of V1X's last week. And, I'll be fooked if I don't *REALLY* like them. I even played pretty darn well with them. *Probably* liked them more than any ball I've tried in the past year. I'll take em out again this weekend for a second test, but I really think I'm fooked here. You'd think I would be happy about this. I'm not.

So now I'm stuck. I *think* I've found the ball that could stop my Ho'ing. But, at what cost? How much is my self respect worth? Can I really join the throng of posers that shouldn't be anywhere near this ball (myself included) no matter how good it feels? Will I be buying a case of ProV1's next to see which ProV poser ball I prefer more? Can my fragile aluminum ego handle being snickered at whenever I buy a case of ProVs? Worse, can I handle those horrid eye rolls and barley concealed guffaws when I shank my fourth $4 Prov1x into the trees? All because they "feel" better....

Maybe I'll just order them online and then run my line up mark across the ProV1x aim emblem. Ahh crises averted.

Then again, I should probably go try those overlooked Srixons soon anyway....

Sorry dude. I only play ProV's now. Bought the ProV hat today. I have already pre-adjusted my HC to reflect my new laser focus and pin seeking ability. Expecting my endorsement deal to come through any day now. But, if Titleist can't come up with the cash I may give the Z's a shot...

Your post was LOL funny, have you tried the Bstone RX's I was told by a ball fitting that they go 20 yards further than my gamer ball the Pro V1 which I buy refurbished for $12 a dozen. Im too much of a cheap skate to go out and buy the balls for $40, becasue to my knowledge no company sells used/refurbished Bstone RXs

Well, those bastids from Titleist haven't gotten back to me on the endorsement deal yet. You'd think that a 20 HCP (now 2 HCP) making a change to their premium ball would make some exec VP's sit up and take notice. Do you think they are waiting for me to buy a Scotty before bringing in the cash? How long should I wait before I send them a lettter demanding my check?

 

Just for spite (not a lot if the check is in the mail Mr. Titleist), I did go buy some Srixon Z's this week. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank chRisJ87 for completely fooking with my head on that one. I finally find a ball I'm really happy with and some nobody (remember I'm a famous Titleist player now) stirs the pot right in front of me? What's up with that?'

 

Those Z's are rockstars. Wow. And the cool part is, that when I play well with them, the guys in the group think I must be good because I'm playing well with "one of those crappy Srixons". It's like the stealth stud ball. I'm thinking about buying a Srixon hat, but the cool factor just isn't there. And you know us Adams club guys, it's all about "the cool".

Well, well.. I'm glad to see I can provide a bit of humor to those needing a chump to make fun of . Thanks friends... I even managed to fall out of a cart this weekend, (which is a great story to be told another time) and should provide great laughs at my expense..

 

Regardless of the cart fun, I played my second round with the Z's and well.. I'm now more confused than ever. The Srixon feels good, hits well and falls into the hole just fine... But I dunno.. There's just something "wrong" with it.. It reminds me of that super hot drunk chick you meet at the bar. She's got the all the right parts in all the right places, her ace feels good during the slow dance and then you get back to her place and she kisses like a drunk chick. (Not that I'm really that easy, but c'mon how many times do any of us really score a super hot chick, drunk or not?) "But she's hot, who cares!!" you say. And I agree, but for $40 a case, that broad better know how to kiss, drunk or not... Weird.. I've got enough left for a few more rounds, but I think she's just gonna get my face all wet.

 

And now I have to read all the "I hate the 2009 V1" threads too? WTF? Criminy. Have some respect people. I'm trying to build a long term relationship (minus the Srixon cheating) and yer telling me my V1's older sister is hotter than my new love? Man, it's tough being a ball ho.. :cry:
