mine never did it on this website but the Accuflex website was extremely hard to get onto - had to tell my computer that it was safe, LOL.

My curent Norton Antivirus and Internet Security subscription randomly identifies this site as unsafe and notes a known Trojan virus as well. Is this a known bug or this something to do with banner ads maybe?

 

Every time we visit Golfwrx and others similar websites they attempt to put cookies on our system... My Norton 360 blocks that based on my configuration, and some sites don't like being blocked. I just checked Norton and it says one db tried to drop 9 tracking cookies on my system, Norton stopped it from doing so.

 

Norton phishing protection is "on" and not telling me this site is a problem. I did notice yesterday that Norton stopped some form of threat.

 

When I say Norton 360 is worth the cost, I am not kidding. Been online since 95, only faced one security problem and that was year ago.

Poked around in OSX running Safari and Firefox, then switched over to XP running IE7. Nothing came up.

I had it yesterday and this morning around 8:30 AM EDT. Fortunately, McAfee blocked it. Seems clean now.

 

I feel your pain. I just had a web bot cause some nasties on my company network- took us almost a week to clean.

If someone can show me the offending code on the forum index then I can address it. I cannot see anything on this and the front page since its been restored. Please delete your internet cache or refer to your Norton configuration on why it may still be sensing the trigger. Norton may be flagging the site in general but, if you can point to the specific code then it can be removed.

Everything I read says that is not realtime info on scanning. Do you have more info on how it can be questioned or removed? I registered and tried to contact them and there is no tab to question it. We are still working on a backend page to restore but nothing on the front page or forums has the code from our scanning.

I believe that Norton rating basically is from user responses- Symantec is not actively scanning golfwrx.com from their servers. This is either user feedback, or user software reporting back to Symantec.

I was on here on Tuesday and Wednesday when all this was happening with 2 different computers, but running the same software, windows, and anti-virus, and didnt see any of this.

 

I am running the current Firefox and AVG. Wondering if AVG even caught it? I did a scan and nothing came of it. Said I was clean.

 

Is there another free anti-virus program that might be better than AVG? I have used AVG for several years and havent had much of any problems.

It wasn't a virus, it was a site redirection attempt. Code was installed and we were actively cleaning the pages at the time as well.

You have to have software that monitors web browsing and looks for things like a re-direct, malware, etc. More like an Internet Security suite. Typical anti-virus won't catch something until it is pushed onto the computer (or an attempt at a push), or it is actually running on the machine in memory.

 

So a suite will catch the activity before it happens (hopefully) and anti-virus will catch it after the fact.

Not sure if this is related but I'm getting popups now from something called SafeNet. It's a small popup about 600 X 100 pixels.

 

The site is also blocked at work through WebSense as a Malicious site.

The malicious content was removed. I sent an inquiry to websense but that product is corprate decision based and there is not much we can do. I suspect your safenet is a local alert as well. All I can tell you guys us the site is clean now.

I tried to view a picture in its own separate tab so I can send the link to the picture to one of the WRX members I chat with, and this popped up in the new tab:

That is a google message and its a false positive. I have reported it and ask they change it in their system. Norton and Websense have both scanned the site and have stated its clean. Everyone else has been very fast in modifying their ratings but google states in their message that it could takes weeks.
