the e6+ is legendary for helping slicers is this really true or does it vary by player... i drive it 240 avg. but they always seem to want to go left (left handed) how much would that change with the e6

I just double checked the chart on the GD ball test, the driver spin is pretty close with both of these balls (so the help against the slice, if any would be minor), but the E6 was the lowest spin ball off a wedge, while the burner TP was close to many of the tour balls

I tried using the cally HX hot, looking for similar slice killing to what you're looking for and found that the ball not only didn't really go much straighter off the tee, but it wouldn't stop on greens at all

no prob, now if I could just find a use for the other 3 sleeves of HX hot's I've got sitting around.....

on the burner TP note too, I had a friend buy me the wrong balls accidentally as a gift and I ended up with some of the TM TP blacks (the tour ball) and I found the performance to be pretty much the same as the burner TP, and the burner TP has a softer feel

I would say the tour ball seems slightly more durable, but the cheaper burner TP didn't seem to give up anything I could tell performance wise

both carried about the same, and seemed to have similar spin off the driver and the wedges (which is good)

I found e6+ good for subduing the slice and I love the putting feel. But not much greenside spin.

I started playing the Burner TP for some better spin. This one also has good sidespin control and soft putting feel.

You could try the e5+ which should have better greenside spin than the e6+.

+1 to previous posts...e6+ won't spin/check near as much as Burner TP. Burner TP, in my experience, is longer too. It's more ball, but if major slice/hook reduction is important, e6+ does that for sure.

I found the e6+ helped reduce the effects of the slice off the tee and on the putting surface rolled quite well. I would agree that if you needed the ball to spin with short game shots the e6+ didn't perform like the Burner TP. I like both balls but I found the Srixon Trispeed worked better for me vs the e6+ & Burner TP.

What about the Trispeed worked better for you?

While the e6+ reduces side spin to help with slices, I found the Trispeed also would spin less off the driver, so it also would not stray from side to side and provide excellent distance. Also the Trispeed is similar to the e6+ in softness.

Where I found the Trispeed was better was mid-irons and short game play. While the Burner TP may spin a bit more I found I could get very good hop and stop response from the Trispeed, like the Burner TP would also. The e6+ would roll out more than I sometimes wanted to see on the greens.

Finally the Trispeed seemed to have a true roll when putting and I liked the side alignment marking on the Trispeed for lining up my putt.

How does the anti-slice of the e5+ compare to the e6+? I like how straight I'm hitting the e6+ and that's importantly for me as I am not consistent with my swings, but would like a bit more greenside spin.

I have recently played the e6+ and TM LDP blacks and found the e6+ to be longer but did not spin well on wedges/irons (though nice if you like to chip/pitch and run). The blacks were as straight, shorter, and stuck to the greens very well. However, nowhere close to being as durable. There would be scuffs after 1 wedge shot.

The Burner TP has been a good ball for me. I was playing the Nike One Black and they both have their pro's and con's but the Burner TP won in the end. There is only one thing I don't like about the Burner TP and that is the height. On a full iron shot these things really sky high for me, where as the black had a mid level height. Over all, I could spin the Burner when I need to, work it left or right, and it felt great off the putter. The Burner was more durable for me than the Blacks also. I could chew the cover off the Black, but the Burner kept going strong. I played 1 sleeve Saturday then got on Ebay and bought 6 dozen of them. Great ball.

I have not tried e5+ yet, it's next on my list. Accordng to Golf Digest Hot List for balls, e5+ has similar spin off the driver as the e6+. It's a 2-piece ball but urethane cover promotes greenside spin. Also rated tops in the Feel category.

  • 2 weeks later...

The e5+ will spin a lot more off the driver than the e6+...and more off every club actually. It has a urethane cover, to add spin and playability. e6+ is made to reduce spin and diminish hooks and slices... If you want slice help...avoid the e5+.
