The Extreme is definitely a pure distance ball. I don't think I have ever hit a ball as far as I hit the Extreme. And it feels soft too, even off the putter. But, it really doesn't spin much so it will not hold greens very easily on long approaches and it will run out on short wedge shots. The Tour is also pretty long, though not as long as the Extreme. The Tour, however, spins quite a bit -- its close to being a premium ball in overall performance.

Just wanted to bump and ask for any more opinions on the Extreme - more about iron height and wedge spin. I can't play balls like the NXT Tour, they 'float' too much, especially off the irons/wedges. Thanks!

The NXT Extreme is a good golf ball. It's long and straight off the tee with a nice trajectory -- not too high or too low. If you are used to a ball that drops and stops or spins back, you may have to adjust your landing area with the NXT Extreme. If you hit it well, it won't venture too far away from your target. My only issue with the NXT Extreme is it seems a little too lively off the putter. That results in inconsistency for me.

The NXT Tour is long and also holds its line well. I don't find that it significantly different on approach shots than the Extreme. I find that the NXT Tour putts more consistently and feels like one of the more expensive balls such as ProV1.

If there were two sleeves on the table and I could choose, it would be the NXT Tour, but if I were left with the Extreme, I'd enjoy using it.

that's interesting. i have had the entirely different result with the nxt tour-- i find that it spins well enough to hold the greens on full and half shots. as stated before, the tour also feels better off of the putter than the extreme (feel is very subjective, though).

here is a link to the distance of the tour vs. extreme (and other balls) in a test done by golf magazine (february 2008): http://www.golf.com/golf/features/flash/ballguide3.html
