Premium ball, value price for mid-high handicap

17 handicap
Which of these closeout balls should I chose? My swing speed is above average but not sure exactly what it is. Also I realize none of these are "premium" balls.

Precept U-Tri Tour $15
Wilson Zip $11
D2 Feel $15

I've played the Maxfli tour fire and don't care for it b/c it tends to balloon on me. Also, should I stick with a two piece ball that spins less since I'm a higher handicap? My drives have a small slice with normal trajectory but for the most part my irons are straight with a lot of loft, I still have an occasional slice though. I would like my irons to be straight more consistently with good check up on the greens. As far as around the green, I would say my chipping, from 30 yards in is the best part of my game so all i'm looking for is for the ball to be consistent there.

Thanks,
Matt

I was going to say Maxfli Tour Fire... I love that ball... I have 3 extra dozens in my garage, and will probably stop and get as many as I can for however long they have them available.

Another good one in that range is the Nike Power Distance Soft. They've got a great feel, but don't spin like the Tour Fires... which if you're balooning the Toru Fires, might be a good thing.

You can pick up last years models at some places pretty cheap, I got 2 doz for $25.

This year's version I haven't played but are in the $17 range.

If you played something like ProV1 or any "high spin premium" ball then it will usually amplify an "occasional slice". How about one in the softish-distance category ball? Srixon Trispeed for example. Possibly add 5-10 yards off the drive and turn your occasional small slice into a skinny-fade? Its possible. Honestly I feel like Wilson Zip will play similar for you and I bought 4 dozen off ebay BRAND NEW a month ago for $40. You can get 4 dozen trispeed of lostgolfballs.com in AAAAA grade for $48(I think theyre more durable). Take your pick. Most people say they cant spin a ball like these back, but I prefer the one hop stop result so I shop the same market of golf balls you do. Hit em well

What about the Wilson 50 or the Callaway HX Hot?

Now your talkin! One of those magazine-robot-tests-that-people-here-sometimes-criticize said wilson 50 has a higher spin rate than prov1s lol. HX hot? Its a trispeed with callaways logo on it. youll hit the trispeed further but not enough for it to matter. Whichever one you can get cheaper!

My Pro told me to play Srixon Softfeel or AD333. LOW spin. About $18 for Softfeel/dozen, low $20's for AD333's.

Plus, I think I just read that Srixon is now giving away a free towel with a dozen balls. The shark ball towel is pretty cool looking, IMO.

both the U Tri Tour and the Zip are great balls for the price. 3 piece with spin and durability. The D2 feel is a 2 piece, OK ball, but not much spin despite the soft "feel" (due to low compression)

Bridgestone E5, E6 or E7, depending on what you want out of your ball flight are great balls for about 24.00/dozen. Look at Golf magazine for golf ball ratings on mid priced balls and you can see what balls in your price range rated high.

Gamer or AD333 would get my vote. Both great balls. You might be able to find some of the older Z-UR balls from Srixon too. Higher quality ball for a lower price since they are discontinued now (Z STAR replaced).

HX Hot Bite ball is good too as well as the Pinnacle Exception ball

Where do you get the U-Tri Tours for $15 a dozen? I can only find them at Wal-mart, at $24 a dozen. I try to get a dozen each time I go. I am up to 9 dozen stored in the basement, and plan on adding to the total for as long as I can find the ball. At $15 a dozen I'd get as many as you can.

I love the feel. To be honest, I have no idea if it is the "right" ball for my swing or game, but since I like it so much, I figure the confidence I have in the ball makes up for it.

In the last week my Wal-Mart marked the U-Tri's down from $23 a dozen to $15 a dozen.
