How far do you hit with your clubs?

Recommended Posts

I believe all the guys who claim they hit 270-280 off the tee as i do as well... I would like to see some proof of all you guys that have ss around 120 as that is some serious speed. A simple video of your swing from face on or dtl would be fine. If you can hit it that far im sure you have your swing on video to see what it looks like.

I guess this should just be re-named the official bull s*** thread..... I mean really, I lost track how many kids in here are claiming they're 16 6'2" 225 120+ss and say they hit it 300+ and play off a 5 or less..... I mean really guys, no one on here really cares how far you hit it in PGA Tour 09..... I hit a drive 330 last night and it was by far one of the longest drives of my life, pure luck.... But I guess for this thread I could say I hit it 330 all the time? Or maybe all you kids are Individual state champs with full rides to D1 schools? Haha
It is annoying how often you will to mention you can bench 300 and deadlift 500lbs EVERY CHANCE YOU GET,,,OMG, swinging a light club and hitting a ball far has nothing to do without long driving.
You truly give all guys who legitimately hit the ball well a bad name.
Post a video of your swing. Let's see it. I've seen vid's of some of these kids and i bet they can hit 270ish, 280+ may be a stretch, but they are kids, what do you expect.

I am amazed that you folks have consistent distances from day to day. Just this week, I have had a day where my average 9 iron has carried 142 yards and a day where it carried 112 yards.
I found that I started scoring much better when I stopped worrying about how far I could hit each club in optimum conditions and instead figured out how far I was hitting on a particular day. Consider today. Cold and rainy. Not gonna take anymore than a 9to3 swing with any club other than driver. So I go out with my pitching wedge and figure out that with the temperature, turf conditions, wind, etc. that I am hitting my pitching wedge about 110-113. From there I extrapolate distances, assuming about 12 yards between clubs (1/2" and 4* loft consistent through set)
This means that when I hit my second from 143, I didn't ask myself, "How far can I carry my 9 iron again" but rather I just counted up 110, 122, 134, 146=p,9,8,7- alright, hit the seven.

For some people, it may be helpful having "standard" distances, but I found this method far more helpful.

Hey guys, I'm new here and a junior (14 years old) I'm playing off 15 at the moment :)

I'm going to assume this is on a nice dry day with a fair bit of run on the fairways and calm wind.

Height 5-9, weight 150 lbs (in that area)

Driver - 240-50 (Depends if it's a draw or a fade, stuff like that) Normally around 250.
3 Wood - 215
3 Iron - 195-200 (Depends on how hard I swing. Sometimes I may try and smash it when I'm not feeling confident with my 3 wood and I get it pretty sweet and it goes almost 210 with a good bounce and some wind behind me.)
4 - 185-90
5 - 175
6 - 165
7 - 155
8 - 145
9 - 135
PW - 125-130

52 - 100
56 - 80
60 - Not sure, don't use it in full swings

I am still getting my swing back. I took three years off of golf back in high school because i played college baseball. I believe i am playing my irons/wedges too far forward in my stance because i am getting no distance out of them compared to what i used to be doing. I went out and hit a R7 with Matrix shaft the other day and was consistantly 270-280 off the tee... so i know my driver is not working well for me...

But, like people have said... why lie about your distances? It all matters how you score.

Hence the alternate part, not trying to be a D*ck just pointing out I would guess he picks one to play and benches the other.

17 years old, 6'3, idk about 230lbs? not really sure.

No clue on my swing speed, I know when I hit it good my ballspeed is around 170-173(driver of course).

yardages assume low wind and flat terrain

Driver: anywhere between 270-300
3w: 260 (250ish carry off the tee)
2h: 245 (total distance only hit on really tight holes I have no clue how far it actually carries but its a low bullet so I assume quite a bit of roll)
Iron carry distances
3i: 210-220
4i: 205
5i: 195
6i: 185
7i: 170
8i: 155-160
9i: 145
W: 130
54: 115
60:??? (never hit full)

9 Iron= Not really a distance, If I play a cut (short), If I play a draw (longer). Feel
PW= 100-115
54= 90-95
56= 85-90

(Could use 56 degree wedge for all those wedge distances, but I carry the wedges for shots around the greens)

I hit it short, but I rarely miss a fairway. I hit mostly all my clubs straight.
