... these wedges look great except for the bright chrome.

Damn you Mike that you had to stoke my ho'ing urges to a breaking point. :)

Since you did not pick them up few days ago and I had been considering getting one for couple weeks so I said "WTH", I picked up a 60* yesterday and then a 54* wedge 9 holes later on the course. I feel that 60* is a nice one but I'm not completely sold on the 54* yet.

My home course has lot of different ground conditions even though it's bit wet right now, soft & fluffy bermuda fairways, firm & tight fringes around the greens along with thick greenside rough just off the fringes. The 60* did very nicely on firm ground when squaring up the face. In rough, I could open it really wide open and hit some very short high flop shots with no problem. I still need some time to get used to those wedges though. On full shots, I did find that i was hitting it about 10 yards or so further than Callaway Vintage 60* or Vokey SM60.08.

About the 54*, well, I might need to play around with adjusting it's lie & loft further before I could form any further opinions. It was bit cold yesterday and little too cold to play today due to wind.

I was impressed with the amount of spin especially on pitch shots that goes one hop then stop. Spin would be comparable to some of the excellent wedges on the market such as Callaways, Clevelands & Vokeys.

nice review, bill. did the 54 just go too far? bad ground contact? how was the feel out on the course (which can be different than hitting off a mat inside) ... vokey hard, forged soft ... in between probably, huh?

Actually bit shorter than Callaway 54*, I need to check the lies & loft and experiment with it some when weather warms up. It could be the spin that's taking the distance off but I'm not sure right now. Well, since it was cold yesterday (upper 30 to low 40's) but so far I'd say the feel is somewhere in between Vokey and a forged wedge such as Mizuno. Hmm, maybe similar to old chrome 588's.

According to Cleveland's site - the 588 DSG wedges are ALL 35.25", which makes the 60 and 58 1/4" longer than Vokeys.

Weird that the 60 and 54 would be the same length. This could account for a little added distance - ?

Doesn't say what the swingweights are, has anyone checked theirs? They felt nicely heavy to me, maybe D6?

i checked the lengths and swingweights of a couple a couple days ago. if you measure to the end of the grip cap (which titleist does i believe), the dsg's are actually 35.5" (35.25" to the end of the shaft) ... all are the same length, which i find odd too (same with the cg 10's in the same loft range).

swingweights were d5 on a 54 and d6 on a 58 (probably most all are indeed d6). i believe cleveland's dg 'wedge flex' is s-400.

i don't believe 1/4" or 1/2" will make any difference in distance ... it's about the loft angle, the cg placement, and possibly the sole grind.
