Skycaddie Users - Intelligreen Pro coming

Synced mine this morning took about 15 minutes to download the update, and reload all the courses back on, All I noticed that was different to the courses I have on mine in the UK is the circle around the Intelligreen view and the Front,Middle & Back dots have changed to red.

So did you request the upgrade? How did you get it?

Yes I had already paid for the upgrade earlier in the year. the scoring, green depth etc.

Then just plugged it in to Caddie Sync

I think this is a great upgrade because it can also aid in helping get the exact distance to the pin. Maybe I am just not as experienced with my SG5 yet (only played about 5 rounds). But if you know that the pin is at the bottom of the large slope, you can more easily pinpoint the exact pin location and get an even better distance reading. I am very eager to download this and see how it works.

Great feature. One I would use constantly. What I don't see is how it would benefit average Joe golfer thats trying to hit the green..period, and he seldom thinks about hitting away from a pin position.

Mine has synched again now software 3.77 version, would be nice if Skygolf told us what these are?

I have noticed no difference visually.

You're right. It would be nice if SkyGolf provided a lot more communication when it somes to software upgrades and to the future plans of its products. Sometimes I think that companies like SkyGolf don;t want to make commitments only to fall short of the mark. It seems they would rather roll out a significant upgrade when available than to make promises to availability.

I'm looking forward to both the Intelligreen Pro and Hole View features. I have a trip planned to Pinehurst in October and hope to have both features in time for the trip.

Me too.
I got the update, but see nothing different! There's nothing on the website either.
My opinion is that they let this out there so they could stem the tide of other GPS units taking over even though they knew they were nowhere near having it ready.
Even once they officially release it, it may be a year before any of the courses I regularly play have the intelligreen pro technology.
This looks really bad for Sky Caddie in my opinion

Quick Update
I called Sky Caddie yesterday for two main questions:
One is, I have now received two updates for which I have no idea what they are for and what the add or improve.
Two, when is intelligreen pro actually coming?

The first one is that most of the time those updates have to do with technical stuff like GPS protocol, nothing that warrants a big to do.
Secondly, the intelligreen pro is about a month out.
I explained that it would be nice if the updates included something about what they are for, like Apple does when you get a software update.

I learned a new trick. Go the skygolf website. At the bottom of the page under support click on guides and manuals. You should see the manual in pdf form for your skycaddie, but there is also a manual that shows everything about the recent expansion package update. It's under addendum at the bottom "software expansion package".
I had all of this cool looking stuff on my skycaddie once I upgraded but didn't know how to use it.

I would love it (as would you I suspect) if Skygolf proved you wrong! Unfortunately, they not only discussed the Intelligreen Pro in a 2009 update, but also an overhead view - which would be great.

I would guess that the Intelligreen Pro will be released reasonably soon, however, the overhead view seems to be nowhere on the radar.

Hopefully, they are not dumping resources into an iphone app or something which gets them out of the significant cost of designing, sourcing and buying hardware - but I could see this move. Skygolf's main competitive advantage is their data, there is really nothing special about the hardware. Sorry for my unfounded speculation - just getting impatient.

Spending time on developing an iPhone app may or may not be very rewarding. The question is how many will use such an app if the device turns out to be not approved for use under the Rules of Golf? As has been discussed in another thread, the use of these devices may be disallowed by the USGA/R&A, not because of the apps like a SkyGolf may develop or of those already out there like a GolfShots or GolfLogix, but because there are other apps that provide more than distance information, such as a break indicator, or perhaps real time information on wind speed and direction. Just like with the rangefinder with slope function, even if that function is not turned on the device itself is not approved. It would be too hard to determine and ultimately control whether or not someone is using their iPhone for more than gathering distance information.

Certainly, if one is not playing in a tournament and doesn't particularly care if the use if the device is approved or not then that won't serve as a deterrent. However, I am personally against any app that encourages bringing more cell phones onto a golf course. They area big enough problem now as it is.

Synced yesterday and firmware updated to [i][b]v3.65[/b][/i]. I have an [i][b]SG3[/b][/i].

Since there are never any release notes, I wonder what's new?
