Tourstage Z101s

I'm very interested in these irons - heard endless good things about them. BUT, these are not easy to come by to demo, etc. My question is what type of player "should" be playing these irons? Are these considered a muscle-back, players' cavity, etc.? If the player is a fairly decent ball striker, what would the the ballpark handicap cut off for these irons.....forgiveness being the main factor. Thanks....just need a little advice before I pull the trigger on a set.

Player's cavity for sure. While the long irons have some extra weighting to help get the ball airborn, the heads are on the small side and not that forgiving. If you must attach and index rating to them, then if you are -10 or better, you can handle these clubs just fine.

They are a very good design and sharp looking, but the better alternative would be Bridgestone's current J33 lineup, the CBs and combos have a softer feel and a little more forgiving.

I have a set of z101s that were blueprinted by Joe Kwok when he installed PX 5.5 shafts. They are a player's cavity back with tungsten in the three through six (I believe) to add loft to the long irons. They are about the size of the Bridgestone J33 combos, smaller than TM LT2s. The scoring irons are very accurate. Don't know a hc cutoff but they are not to be confused with Callaway Big Berthas. While they are an excellent iron I personally believe the TS201s which can sometimes be found on ebay or in forum swap shops are better. Hope this helps.

I agree with this completely, I played the TS Z 101s for awhile and they're great but find the Bridgestone J33 Combos better and more forgiving. See photos of my bag with the J33s and Z01s. I'm really happy with the Bridgestones. Hdcp is 9.3 about to become a 10.3 but hopefully the Bridgestones and some lessons will help me with my game in the next few months.

I love my set, but As far as the handicap question - I think you need to have good control of your swing to be playing Z101's. They are moderately forgiving, but require a decent consistent swing at the ball to perform their best. My index varies from 8-11 or so, and I can play these VERY VERY easily. One of my buddies with a 15-17 index tends to struggle with them a bit. If your swingplane is solid, and you have good impact - I think they should work fine. Beginners and high handicappers should probably look elsewhere.

Here's my review:
