i feel iam getting a better swing but lets hear what you think
hi all,

I am back with some swing videos for some comments on what to work on.... be kind or don't be kind thats up to you but any help is good help...

First thing i notice is a VERY weak right hand grip. This seems to dominate your setup and you have backwards shaft lean which i dont like.

 

Second, your weight all stays forward on the way back, now im not sure if your S&T style so this may not be an issue but its resulting in a BIG lateral slide on the way down which, regardless of swing type is not what you are after.

 

Your overall plane is very flat but you seem consistently on this plane so again thats fine imo.

 

Through impact your positions look fine except for the slide move i pointed out earlier.

i am not stack and tilt.. but have been working forever to get rid of a sway backwards on the back swing..

 

the grip i neeed to see a pro about....! i have huge palms and to grip with my fingers like hogan in five lesson my hand gets looks weak if i don't i have a gap between my hands .. i think it looks weaker than it is but it weaker than most..

 

any drills to my with the downswing sway????

Stick a shaft in the ground in front of your left hip and maintain the gap on the way down. Work on rotating left from the top as the club comes down rather than swaying forward. I would also work on getting the weight set on the right side on the way back. Work on loading up onto the INSIDE of the right foot/leg to eliminate the sway back.

i have actually only been using that grip a month or to ........ it the only way to grip it with my two inner fingers providing the grip i think it has to do with the joint between my plam and thumb .. wish i had a pro but i will take a video up close of me gripping the club to show it better....

 

 

any in the rockford area that has been getting lesons let me by who?..... alot of instructors and i have been practicing next to some of their lesson not sure if i like their approach but i have two on my list to talk to..

Just make the switch and declare yourself stack and tilt. That is the golfswing model that you closest resemble. I think you'll have to make fewer changes if you just take up S&T. Pretty good looking swing.

the only problem with that. there is not s and t , teachers in my area that are not in chicago. otherwise i might give it a try.

 

You wouldn't have to do much to make a change. I did it and I live in Hawaii. There's a lot of good info out there if you're willing to take the time to find it.

 

Even if you were S&T your lower body is too much towards the target at the top of the backswing (upper body a bit too). It needs to be more centered, then your hip slide would be ok.

 

The reason it moves towards the target is because your hips are turning too level to the ground (as is your shoulders). You need to center up your hips at address and feel like the right hip gets much higher than the left hip at the top of the backswing. You do this by letting your right leg straighten a little more. Your shoulders would need to steepen a bit as well.

 

On the downswing, the only other problem I see is your left knee does not move soon enough, while your right knee moves a LOT. It should be the opposite.

 

Just flare your feet a bit more at address with knees pointing in the same direction as your toes and your done. That's what I would start with.

Good reply. I would definitely look at the right hand grip as well. You want the first joint of the right trigger finger on the aft(back) side of the shaft and it is currently too far on top of the club. Id start your hands more forward(shaft pointing at left shoulder) and a better right hand grip. Then work on the piece above.
