For anyone who has never been you have to go. This is the mecca of golf places, the most beautiful, aesthetic, and picturistic golf course I have ever seen. I have been to other golf tournaments, I have been to some really great golf courses. But nothing compares.

1st the grass is greener than you have ever seen. The course has more changes in elevation than you can even belive. The bunkers look like sugar. The greens roll as fast as glass and the elevation in those can make a ball dropped at the peak roll 30 feet away. I didnt see one piece of trash on the course.

I was going to take pictures for golfwrx but couldnt because all of my memory card was used on the course, and those pictures dont even do justice to what I saw. The azelas, the pines, the dogwoods, and the Magnolias are so unbeliveable you couldnt imagine.

I have to agree.

 

I was there on Wednesday for the Par 3 contest in 2004 (Arnie's last year). The fairways are greener and softer than anything you have ever seen. Even though it was not part of the tournament I was amazed at how many people were making the same comment, "This is one more thing that I can cross off the list before I go." I think I took nearly 400 shots in one day. I am trying to get my father to take the trip with me next year.

I treated my dad this year to the Monday practice round. All I can say, it is the most beautiful place I have ever seen in my whole life. Whether you are a golf fan or not you need to go.

 

My dad and I were walking from 18 tee up to the clubhouse when we spotted this older man and his wife. He was breathing heavy and his wife asked him if he was going to be alright. All the old man said was "I am not sure but this would be one great place to die". You had to be there when his wife smacked him upside the head.

I just saw this post, but having accompanied HUDVOL (and HUDVOL Sr) to Augusta National on this trip I second and third every comment.

 

We've got to do it again! Oh, maybe with a little less Golf Shop.

Some how I think you got the better end of the deal. All the family is still in San Antonio, and always love the visits. Long drive though.
