I have seen this driver first hand and its not as bad as most of the posters here are making it out to be. Here is the true 'Money Shot' of the DTS -

It looks GREAT at address! I hear they will launch on 11/1.

I'll see about posting some picts of the FW woods.

Looks like shite. Sorry, but the current Launcher is so much better. I also like the U-shaped weight thing of the current model.

This DST looks like a test design to me, not a final product. Horrible.

Some people go for that busy look... I prefer a cleaner look - like this. If they just tone down the blue (navy blue).

i don't care what the bottom looks like (obviously my driver says MONSTER on it) all i care about it how it performs. Address profile looks like an improvement over last year i don't care for the gear on top....even though my current setup has some flash to it.

Cheers

I LOVE my '09 Launcher but I'd be more than willing to give this next Cleveland driver a shot... we all want the next best thing.
The bottom sole stuff looks a bit weird, but c'mon guys, it's at the BOTTOM! Address looks fine to me. I just hope they go back to their old "CG" sight line logo and not the weird "rocket ship" logo they used on the '09 Launcher.

Looks pretty good at address. Like the dark blue (reminds me of Tzoid)

Im not judging anyone but you it sounds like most are quick to judge simply on looks. It almost sounds like they are more worried what their buddies will think as opposed to how it performs. All the things mentioned to downplay this club wont even be seen as you are hitting the ball. The top view looks about as classic as can be. All this wal-mart talk reminds me of when the sasquatch (bright yellow sole, two tone top) first came out. If tiger was playing this, i bet we would all be singing a different tune!
Cleveland hasn't made a decent playable driver since the Comp. The Hibore experiment was a disaster that lasted way too long and the Launcher is simply average at best!
Well the "Hibore Experiment" is a good example of a company that introduce an idea and work to make it better on each release. I tried the first Hibore and it was short and almost unworkable, I was better and longer with my 3 wood. Then the XL was way better in all aspect but now the XLS is a long stable bomber and the stock red shaft is very good at an excellent value. I heard about the Monster but for NOW I am settle with my XLS, well I still outdrive my partners.

My local Cleveland/Srixon rep was kind enough to show us the complete new Cleveland and Srixon range yesterday. The DTS is pretty decent, but more exciting will be the launch of a Tour version (he didn't have one for us to lookat and hit). The Tour version of the Launcher will be a smaller head in the 430CC range and have an up market spec shaft.

The new Cleveland CG15 wedges are awesome and also come in both standard and Dynamic Sole grinds. The new milling/grooved faces are stunning. The "stealth" all black CG7 tours are exactly the same shape as the current model, just with the new all black llook and the new face. Also had a new range of chippers etc.

The real killer was the new Srixon range:

Irons - very similar to the current model Callaway X-forged with the topline probably being a hair thinner than the Cally's. Didn't get to hit them but they looked solid and set up nicely.

Fairway woods - the New Z-TX fairwood is simply stunning. Interestingly the shaft seems to be a 1/2" longer than standard. Looks wise this is one of the nicest woods around. No chance to hit it though.

Driver - the only club I did get a chance to hit was the the new Z-TX driver. The demo model was a 9.5 degree with the stock Diamana Blueboard "made for" Srixon shaft. It is a 70 gram stiff shaft. Models will be available in 8.5/9.5/10.5 with X-stiff as custom only. there is also a fairly comprehensive list of shaft upgrades as well. As far as looks and performance go, this is one of the best looking drivers around. Sits slightly open and has a very simple and clean crown. Very much a traditional shaped head @ 430CC. The technology is in the sole which has some very interesting aerodynamics built in, to improve clubhead speed. The crown is also very thin. It feels great - somewhat softer than previous Srixon models but still gives the impression of being really hot off the face. Soundwise it is no louder than normal and is very reminiscent of the original Cleveland Launcher. Softer than the modern Cobra drivers, but louder than the R9. So it gets good marks for looks, sound and feel, but where it really stands out is in performance. Given that the stock demo spun a little too much for me, launch characteristics (too the eye anyway as there wasn't a lauch monitor available) were pretty darn good. Of the balls I hit ( we hit Cally i's and Pro V-1x's off our first tee) the vast majority were significantly longer than where I normally get it out to.Control and shot-shaping were also not an issue and I could get the ball to go both ways in the air with relative ease. My only complaint is that the driver felt very light overall, and I would recommend that anyone getting one of these order it with a hevier shaft than usual. I will be putting one in the bag as soon as I can order it!!!

All I can say is that my Cleveland rep was awesome and that the equipment that Cleveland/Srixon are bringing to the game for the next season rivals anyone else out there. It seems that they will be focusing Cleveland on the mid-tier market and that Srixon will become their players range. I can't wait to put the driver into play!

Cheers
Andre
And will it have an adjustable head?
No adjustable head, but instead of putting extra weight in the worst place on a golf club to add weight (the hosel) you can get the draw head (3* closed), the STD head (square) or the Tour head 2*

Yep. A disaster. It only led to their largest wood market share ever. Why would they want that?

 • 3 weeks later...

I love how everyone is knocking this thing for the paint scheme.. are you playing golf or modeling for a fashion show? If it performs... those people will be eating their words. I mean have you seen some pro's clubs?, they are trashed and loaded with drilled holes or lead tape, because they WORK. If Vijay gamed one of these people would be killing each other to grab one. Hillarious..... It does sound interesting the fact that the head is so light they can get away with a 45 gram shaft and keep up the swing weight. Ill give it a dance for sure.

Gotta disagree with most....looks pretty good to me.
Like some others, I don't care what the sole looks like if the club's appearance is not distracting at address (this clearly is not), and it performs. Going by Cleveland's past, I don't think performance will be a problem.
Good jod, Cleveland. Can't wait to demo it.
