Callaway Tour-i(z)

next year's ball - anyone seen or tried?

Today I played in a two-man tip-to-tip scramble (won low gross with a 63) and one of the other guys in the foursome I was playing with mentioned that he had a sleeve of new Callaway balls he had gotten from the club pro. The ball was a Tour-i(z) - with the parentheses around the z - and he said it was longer off the driver, felt better off the irons, and especially felt better off the putter than the Pro-V1s he normally uses. I only looked at the ball for a couple of seconds to confirm the model, but didn't get to try it out. I asked him if it had the clunky sound and feel of other Callaway balls and he didn't really have a good answer.

Anyone seen these yet or tried them out?

I haven't tried the Tour i(z) but I have hit the Tour i(s) which will replace the Tour i. The i(s) is VERY soft and actually a tiny bit longer off the irons than the i, probably the same driver distance, but a noticable difference off the putter. It feels like you're putting an old balatta ball it's so soft. Spin rate around the greens is higher. I was impressed with the improvements.

When do these balls come out?  I have a gift card from Callaway and don't know if I should use them for the Tour iX or wait for the new ones.

Did the Tour i(s) seem spinnier off the driver than the Tour i? or less?

Very interesting... I wonder if the Tour i(z) will play longer off the driver and irons than the tour ix?

I didn't notice any difference in driver distance with the i(s) compared to the i so I would have to assume the spin rate off the driver is similar. The biggest difference I noticed was a much softer feel.

I am really liking the Tour iX. I have been a die hard Titleist guy for years and didn't think I would ever switch. This Tour iX is awesome. I can play 18 holes with one easily. They spin less off of the driver, fly lower, and straighter. I am lovin em.

Ive tried Srixon, Prov1, Bs, Taylormade B & R, Nike one, Wilson tx4, but the Callaway i & ix as well as the old tour & 56 are the best balls for my game. Im a 8. I hit the ball long so I dont need extra distance, to my feeling is everything. Even when I look at them I like the design. They are #1 for me. I dont care for the 2009 prov1s but this is my order:
1) i, ix
2) Prov1, x
3)wilson tx4
3) Nike one & Taylor made R & B
4) Srixon ( new and old ones)
5) Brisdgestone bs etc.

Never thought I would part from Provs but Ive found MY BALL!

According to the USGA's latest list of Conforming golf balls, the Callaway Tour i(s) is no where to be found! However, the Callaway Tour i(z) is listed... the bad news for a high spin player like me is that the ball now has the same classification for driver-iron spin as the Pro V1, which is "M-H" or Medium-High. I like how low-spinning the current Tour ix is off the driver and will not find this to be beneficial in a new ball. The Tour IX gives me all the spin I need around the greens.

cally tour IX was my go to ball aftrer many years of playing the prov1x. But the nike one tour D has crushed them both. LONG and even a little less spin then the cally. As for durability, i played 3 ROUNDS with the same ball. Unreal.

i still haven't tried out the IX but have tried the Red LDP

I think you have a very similar swing profile as me from reding few of your posts, i guess i will give tour D a try next

This thread is supposed to be about the New Callaway Tour i(Z) balls, how did it stray to talking about the Tour Ix's and TM Red ballls?? I want to hear about those who have played the Tour i(z) ball...

If it is suppose to spin like a prov1 then I will go back to playing the prov. I love the tour IX, its just clicky off the putter, so if the new ball spins alot I will go back to the prov... Thats not good, Calli had a great ball and they had to go and mess with it.......
