Mini Tour Players

My buddies and I were talking and we started discussing who is the best mini tour player they have ever played with. I am an Ex mini tour player looking forward to next spring to revamp my abilities and start playing again.

 

So my questions is have any of you ever played with a mini tour player and who is the best one that you know.

Probably Boo Weekley and Heath Slocum would be the best.

Edit: I just re-read your post. Are you looking for names of the best mini tour players that people have played with or the best mini tour players that we have played with that are still on the mini tours??

You know the guys that we could be watching this fall and winter in the mini-tours and then see them go to qualifying in the spring for Nationwide or PGA events?

Mini Tours are great..................but they give a lot of false hope to many.

Drew Lethem is a good stick with some great success as a top amateur and is in the process of getting his feet wet at Q-school and looking to play the winter Hooter's tour series in Florida.

I like Russell Knox's chances at Q school this year as someone who has to go through all 3 stages.

I don't know about that........?
I wouldn't turn down Ted Potter's year on the NGA Hooter's Tour for one second. Matter of fact, if I could play that well and earn equal to that most seasons, the Hooter's Tour would be home. Still playing golf every week, still making a nice little pile of $$$,$$$.$$

Don't know many who wouldn't take it, except for the guys that are already at the next level

Yeah - I'd take Ted Potter's kind of money on the Hooters Tour for sure. 100+ Gs/yr. From the looks of it he has tried the Nationwide with little/no success. He just thrives in A ball.

Best player I've played with that's an ex-mini tour guy is Chad Campbell (great SI article about him once calling him "The Tiger of the Hooters Tour" or something similar).

Best of the guys I know from this area are probably:

Mark Walker
Franklin Corpening
Adam Meyer
Greg Gregory (heard he's making another run)

There are many, but those stick out.

I have played with Greg Greogry. I have not heard that name in a long time. Another name to look out for is Ben Clark.

Played with all three of these within the last 12 months.

As already mentioned Ted Potter. Has to be one of the best putters in the world. Yeah he's that good with the flatstick! Don't understand the whole lack of performance on Nationwide and up though. Good ole boy who can fire 62's like most shoot 75.

Jeff Corr. Another insanely good putter. He qualified through the Hooters for a Nationwide event and was leading after the first day. Had a tough second day but finished up nicely. He is very laid back and has the perfect demeanor for golf.

Derek Lamely. Played with him in the final group of a Moonlight event where he eventually beat Patrick Sheehan in a playoff. He won a Nationwide event and finished 2nd twice this year. Currently 4th on the money list. Pretty long and very accurate. By far, the most complete player of the three. Watch for him next year on the PGA tour. He will make some noise.
