WITB: JanKo´s new setup

Recommended Posts

finally with X-Prototype blades - LOTS of pictures
So my new irons arrived and pretty much everything in the bag changed since my last post, so I thought I might post an update.

Here we go with my bag as I´m gaming it right now:

Driver: Callaway FT-9 10° neutral with i-Mix Fubuki 63 Tour
Hybrid: Cobra Baffler Pro 18° with stock Fujikura Speeder
Irons: Callaway Tour Authentic X-Prototype Blades 3-PW with Project X
Wedges: 52°/56°/60° Vokeys
Putter: Scotty Cameron Studio Select Fastback No.1 350g
Bag: Titleist S82 10,5" Staffbag

The FT-9 has been in the bag for the whole season, LOVING it ... long and straight. The Fubuki feels great, but I´m looking for a shaft that hits lower on those windy days.

Sounds like a big gap to go from the driver to the 18° hybrid, but at my home course I NEVER need a 3-wood and I´m fine with this setup on other courses as well.
The Baffler Pro might not be the final solution in this spot, but as of now I like it. Feels really good and is pretty workable.

Here comes my new love ... Callaway Tour Authentic X-Prototype blades! Just took them out for a couple of range sessions and 2 rounds of golf by now. But let me say, these are BY FAR the best feeling irons I´ve ever hit. They are suprisingly forgiving, look at the flighted CG ... how they positioned more weight in the sole on the longer irons. GREAT STICKS !
Got Project X in them.

Played Vokeys for a long time and still like them. The 56° is a little beat up and might get replaced after the winter. Also gamed a matching Tour Chrome 60°, but decided the 8° bounce was too much for tight lies, so when the 2009 series was released I fell in love with the new 60° with 4° bounce. Very versatile grind, you simply can do everything with this wedge!

Last but not least the most important club. Simply the best putter I ever tried (didn´t try a studio Bettinardi or Byron, though). So confidence inspiring and it puts the Ball on the right line so easily. This is going to be in the bag for quite some time! ;)

Here is my winter bag. I´m not going to hit forged blades on frozen or nearly frozen ground but the i5´s do the job - still great clubs and simply indestructible.

Driver: Titleist 983K 9,5° Grafalloy ProLite
3-Wood: Titleist 904 F Graphite Design YS-6
5-Wood: Titleist 904 F Graphite Design YS-6
Irons: Ping i5 3-PW CS-Lite
Wedges: Cleveland 588 & CG12
Putter: Ping Scottsdale Anser

Gotta love the Scottsdale:

I´m a little ho, so I show you some of my backups/extras:

Srixon Japan ZR-800 10,5° ProLaunch Platinum
Adams Insight Tech A4 9015D 9,5° with a crappy shaft, needs a new one
Ping Rapture V2 3-wood with Mitsubishi Rayon JAVLN FX
Cleveland Launcher 5-wood with Fit-On M red
Titleist 909h 21° with Voodoo
AP2´s 3-PW with Project X
a Vokey SM 60°
and some of my old Ping Putters

Some of you might not know the Srixon ZR-800, so here are some more pics. Sole looks like a spaceship, but very traditional from adress and sounds/feels incredibly good.

I´m into Como Come covers, great quality and pretty funny style.

Hope you enjoyed it. :)
alot of fantastic gear there, those blades are gorgeous! Have you hit them yet? If so how you getting along with them?
Thanks :)

The weather is getting worse and worse and pretty cold ... bad time for a new set of irons. But I managed to play 3 rounds with them so far, plus some range time.

GREAT GREAT GREAT! Best feeling irons I ever hit. They do what you tell them, draw, fade, high, low. I seem to hit them better than the AP2´s I was playing before. Maybe I´m more concentrated on every shot and try so put a smooth swing on it, but it works. Had one of the best ball striking rounds ever ... I guess, once you pure a 3-iron blade, you want that feeling again ASAP: ;)
But the callaway blades look so damn good. How much do you play them? They seem pretty new to me.
The pics were taken after only 1 round with the Prototypes.

Right now I played them for 3 rounds and some range time and MAN are they soft ... they get bag-chatter in no time. It´s still not bad, but it´s there if you look closely, but I guees this is was gamed irons should like like. :)

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
