What works and looks good?

Getting read to list a whole bunch of stuff on eBay and wanted to make sure the pics came out great. Any tips from those who do this a lot? Any insight from what everyone thinks looks good and professional?

Shoot outside under natural light with a darkish background, like nice green grass if possible. Other than that just make sure to really do a good job of showing any imperfections so that you don't disappoint anyone.

#1 tip to great club photos: use the MACRO function on your camera.

If you don't know what that is, it's the little flower icon.

Makes them turn out with great detail.

Natural light is a must also. I put them on a white town and they turn out great.

For best results, I always try to take photo's outside in natural daylight - flash doesn't give very good results. Try to get the club at an angle so the light is evenly spread and there are no reflections of anything bad (including the hapless photographer!) in the frame. Get good backgound - a nice fresh green grass is a good bet - it's quite flattering and makes the clubs stand out.
A bit obvious - but get the focussing right! Make sure the focus is on the club and not the background. Many would be photographers make this simple mistake - focus first, then compose the picture.
Keep the camera still - a tripod is good, but anything can be used to brace the camera to avoid the dreaded shakes. Blurred pictures are the result of camera movement.
Lastly, take plenty of snaps. Assuming you have a digital camera, you will be able to preview the shots and select the best of the bunch for use online. Happy snapping.

Great suggestions regarding outdoor natural light - HOWEVER - not in the direct sunlight, too harsh and creates shadows. Better in the shade where the light is diffused.

And yes, use the macro function.

definitely use the macro setting, shoot in natural light and use a dark background, it will make a big difference.

save yourself some ebay fees and sell your items here on the BST. what are you selling?

i have 20+ high end shafts and a few sets of irons. i feel it would take way to long to sell them here and i don't just want to dump them. also just opened an ebay store and am trying to get my rating up.

thanks for the advice everybody. too bad i'm in az and i don't have grass! i may get a little piece of turf so i can do it at my house. natural light...that's a plenty!

One more tip that may help or be too much of a PITA. Save some ebay fees and only pay for one uploaded picture that shows up on the search page. Then upload the rest of the pictures to a photobucket or other online photo account and link them in your message section. They'll be large and high quality and free.

In the window where you put your description there are tabs at the upper left that say Standard and HTML. Begin writing your description in the standard window. Once you are done with that and want to list your pics, switch to HTML, go down below your text and add the following for each picture.

<br><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/account/DSC07989.jpg"><br> Where the location of your picture goes between the quotation marks.

Repeat the <br> between each pic as they are line breaks. Click back to Standard mode after you paste in each link and your message window will show what the final message will look like and your pictures will already be there to be sure they are in there correctly.

This may be too much of a pain for $1 or two listing fees and is less important now that ebay has moved from jacking you 50% on your listing and 50% on your final value fee to more like 20% of fees based on your listing and 80% of fees on final value.

I always do it indoor, turns out great (see my bst). make sure the light is bright tho. NO FLASHS! one tip to do it indoor is to have a high iso camera.

other than natural sunlight

for indoors take your wifes favorite white comforter and good amount of lighting - no need for flash

learn how to work your white balance if you plan to do it indoors, as the lighting can come out amber, too white, or greenish if you're not careful. Most cameras have a white balance adjustment. Take a piece of plain white paper, go to your camera menu and click on custom white balance, and then shoot the white paper. It will tell the camera that the paper is white and adjust the pictures accordingly.

Be mindful of the background
