Courses between Atlanta and Hilton Head in April

We are headed to Hilton Head from KY in April, and are looking for a decent, but reasonable course about an hour or more south of Atlanta.

 

What recomendations do you guys, that are familiar with the area, have?

Once you pass Macon, there is nothing between there and Savannah (and I mean nothing). I am guessing there would be some places to play around Macon, but don't know anything specifically.

Dana Upshaw is a noted clubmaker who is located in Warner Robbins, just south of Macon. You might email him for some recommendations.

Thanks for your response. I believe we have decided to look around the Atlanta area as they have numerous quality courses to play. Any suggestions? It would have to be close to our Interstate travels. Thanks again.

There's this little town called Augusta about 2 hours from Atlanta, that has a pretty nice track. Although you may want to avoid the 2nd week of April, I think it's booked for an outing.

I'm playing Wolf Creek tomorrow for the first time. I hope the greens have recovered from being aerated a few weeks ago.

You can always try East Lake if you have the connections, BEAUTIFUL course with a rich deep history.
Reynolds Plantation anyone?
Or Sage Valley , little out of the way , but worth the drive
Or you could always come down to Augusta and see me , plenty of great courses down here

I really like Heron Bay, it's in pretty good shape right now, most of the greens are running pretty true but not that quick, maybe like a 7-8. 3 or 4 greens are dying / on the way out, but other than that it's great!
