My New Heritage Golf Flatstick

Just got my new prototype putter (no. 8 of 20) from Heritage Golf and I'm absolutely beside myself. After seeing the Heritage Golf post several weeks ago on this site, I got in contact with Nick, who went above and beyond the call of duty to accomodate my request. Luckily he had the Newport style that I was looking for with black ox finish, plummer neck, 1/2 inch offset, and 360 gram head weight. Two weeks later (today), this baby arrived and was even better looking than the pictures that Nick previously sent. Nick's customer service is second to none and his work is impecable. I do have to admit, I absolutely love the looks of these putters. Extremely finished looking while absolutely understated (I could do w/ some less stampings and think a dot or line works better than the TP Mills oval w/ a plumber neck--but that's the beauty of a custom putter :) ). I look forward to seeing HG's website when it goes up, or minimally a little more participation by Heritage Golf on this board. I know he's not a sponsor to this board (yet?), but that didn't curb the enthusiasm behind TP Mills putters before Jay and David were official. Thanks for posting the pics JJ (I assume from the doublej). Let us know how it performs in the long term. :crazy:

I got my Heritage #5 of 20 in Oil Can finish last week from Nick.

 

It's more AWESOME than I had any reason to hope for.

 

Rolled putts with it and it was true as could be. Pick the line and ht there.

Got mine this morning, Gun Blue #6/20.

 

Feels softer than my Scotty Mil Spec 33/350 that has been my gamer for a few seasons now. Definately softer, and heavier, than my well worn Scotty Gun Blue Newport that has been my backup for years.

 

The head shape is very similar to my Mil Spec; a bit larger than my Newport and Ping Anser, so the putter fits my eye.

 

Finish has nice blued brownish patina, mill marks are uniform and neat. Nick says that his finishes are durable, we'll see about that as I get a few more rounds in with it. Stampings are prominent, as others have mentioned, but you can't see them from address. I didn't want a siteline, so the look is clean and uncluttered from address..

 

I was putting on a lumpy green, so I didn't get a great feel about how it rolls the ball, so I'll hold off on those comments..

 

I'm gonna put it in play and see how it does in "gametime" conditions, on decent greens.

 

Nick was easy to work with, and went out of his way to find me my favorite grip (Scotty Baby T). I was going to wait for his next run, and have him design a head shape that I liked, but after speaking to him on the phone, I decided to go with one from his prototype run of 20.

I think the putters start at $275.00 and go up from there based on type, finish, etc. Mine was $300.00 shipped.

Damn that is a sexy beast!!!

I really like what Heritage is making and the headcover is sweet! A very solid looking putter with the knowledge that it wasn't created by an over hyped marketing machine that everyone and their pooping dog putts with.

Wow I imagine you must have paid atleast $2,000? right? just kidding. for three hundred bucks you got a great stick.

Had a chance to play yesterday with the Heritage Proto in the bag...

 

The putter has a great feel, not too mushy like some inserts, but a lot softer than other putters I have tried.

I've had my Heritage in play for three rounds, and I concur with the above comments. It's softer than my 2004 Cammy Newport Beach and has better feel. Sound is more crisp compared to the Cammy, which has the slot in the sole. Also, I found that its heavier weight (360 grams v.s. 340 grams) allows me to keep putts on line better since it's easier to bring the putter back and straight through. I've only had two three-putts so far with the Heritage and those were from 50 feet plus. I'm definitely more than satisfied with this flatstick!!!
