Suggestions for courses

I will be in Macon, GA for a couple of days in mid-April. I should be able to get in a round on Friday afternoon and again on Sat. morning around my business there. Any suggestions on where to play? Any estimates on rates would be greatly appreciated.

If you wouldn't mind driving a little from Macon, Bear's Best in Suwanee is a fun track. Then there's Bobby Jones in Atlanta, Brown's Mill in Atlanta, St. Marlo in Duluth (great course), Crooked Creek in Alpharetta, Trophy Club of Atlanta in Alpharetta, etc. There are others that are more of a drive that are also good, but those are all within an hour to an hour and 30 minutes unless you hit rush hour.

All of those will have tons of courses to choose from, and you can look at them by their location in relation to Atlanta.

I'll look into those, especially for the drive down from Greenville, SC on Friday afternoon. I can play somewhere around Atlanta that afternoon, and drive on to Macon that evening.
But on Sat. morning, I'll need something pretty close to Macon. I have a meeting starting at 1:00 PM sharp, and need somewhere to play around 8 am or so really close by.

Not very familiar with that area of Georgia, but there's a little tournament going on a few hours up the road that might interest you.

The only public tracks I can think of in the immediate area that are worth playing are Bowden Golf Course, directly in Macon. It's a relatively short Muni though. The other is Waterford Golf Course in Bonaire, Georgia. It's about 10-15 minutes from Macon, from the center. It, too, is short.

Give Houston Lake CC a try. It's about 20 minutes or so south on 75 from Macon and is a great course with a nice staff.

Jeff Evans the inventor of the pure ball striker and teaching pro plays out of there.

If you have business there, I would ask whomever your contact is to try and get you on at Idle Hour. It's pretty nice, but private.
You could also try Barrington Hall. Decent public.
Bowden is very convenient to downtown, but is a goat track.

I was also thinking, the Brickyard I've heard is really good. I think private or semi, but a fun golf course. Was semi when I was in law school and had a lot of good times there. Also, if your business is downtown, you really can't beat bowden. About 10 minutes away. Very mediocre, but serviceable. Now, just don't ask me how I ended up in law school in Macon, Ga. I made the best of it though, golf wise.

Dunno bout courses but as a huge allman bros fan i suggest visiting "the big house"

Idle is nice but private, healy point is nice but part of canongate but you might try there as well.

yeah, the Brickyard is the only thing I can think of that's really nice in that area. I'm not sure how "private" it is though. Heck, it never hurts to call and inquire...
