Golfsmith still thinks that they have them. Their site claims "ships today if order placed before 9am". They also list pickup in store available on 4/2/10. Of course, my pre-order which is supposed to ship today still shows as "Being Processed". If I see an SGX by 4/30/10 I will be pleasantly surprised.

I called GPP at the end of today and they gave me the matched pricing. The moment I mentioned Sports Authority, the rep immediately knew that I was talking about the SGX even before I said it myself! (He had to check for a minute to make sure he could still match the price, so time may be running out...)

Came out to be a better deal than SA since GPP is currently offering free 2-Day Air shipping on the SGX while SA is only free standard shipping. Also, I get to feel good about getting a good deal while supporting a sponsor.

If you click on "Buy Now" on their website, you'll get this disclaimer before you place your pre-order:

"Product will be shipped when available, and is anticipated (but not guaranteed) to ship the first week of April 2010."

My original prediction was not before April 15. Now I'd kind of be surprised if we get them before the end of April. Just being a realist.

All of the 'not happy' folks remind me of my Palm Pre cell phone and its related software updates. Every time there is even the slightest hint that an update will be coming out, people start getting unhappy because it's not out by some date they heard it was going to be released. So, they're in a tizzy and 'ready to switch phones' over something that was never officially stated by Palm.

 

This situation feels similar (assuming, of course, that the SGX is releasedy by 04.30).

Good news. Hopefully it pans out. I'm assuming they'll start shipping by when the order was placed, so I would guess that might be why Golfsmith is showing a ship date of May 2nd; being that all the previous units have sold out.

For the record, Skycaddie's website (not forum) still says "Available April, 2010". The customer care admin in the Skycaddie forum said mid-April.

No matter how you slice it, the only official word has said April 2010. Anything else is speculation (forum visitors) or second-hand information (sales reps).

Until SkyGolf tells me that it won't be April, then I'll assume they intend to make good on their official statement.

I am going the 'trade-in' route. Sent my SG5 to the trade-in group on Tuesday and got their confirmation of receipt call late today. Trade-in value for the SG5 was $120 (leading to $280 SGX). Psyched to get it and put it to good use. I will find out tomorrow (when I return the call) when I can expect to see the new toy! Fingers crossed that's it's sooner rather than later. Psyched, regardless.
