Don't expect miracles. That will take a while but expect to have a great deal of fun and a wonderful learning experience. Wait until you hear and feel what a persimmon sounds and feels like!

I've played persimmon before (been playing since august last year) just got this bag together and thought it was due an outing. I'm using top flite xl5000 soft that feel really good (to a newb like me) i've also used loco ladies (50 compression) with my persimmons.

I managed a 103 in the end ( i have yet to break 100 with anything modern or vintage), however these Slazenger Hogans may be the Persimmons for me, I don't know if its the shafts or the slightly higher lofts but they seemed to be more reliable than any other of the Persimmons I have. These beauties will definitely be getting a refurb this spring ready for the drier summer days, hopefully they will see action in a decent round before long. The Irons, sadly, are a different story, far too much for a little newbie like me (apart from one magnificently faded 2 iron from rough onto the edge of a green on our par four 3rd - what a feeing) and may well have to go on that auction site i've heard so much about...

As for the ball I was using (new top flite xl5000 soft) I am perfectly happy with it and it felt great off the screws and nice to putt with.

Keep on keeping on. I just started being comfortable with my 3 iron and I've been playing for 6 years now(got my first full set of irons last summer;was playing driver, 5-pw for the first 5 years). The feeling you got with the 2 iron will come soon enough to all the others. Good luck.
