switched from Tour flighted rifles to S300 and lost accuracy

Recently made a switch from 690.cb with tour flighted rifle 6.0 shafts. I went to 695cb with dgs300. the reason I made the switch was I was hitting my short irons a littl low and they were not carrying like I wanted them too. I have a much higher ball flight with the new irons but I feel like I have less accuracy (left and right). The clubs are bent to my specs....the shafts are different and they ended up being 1/4 inch shorter than the previous set. I doubt the 1/4 inch difference has anything to do with it. Has anyone else had this issue when making the switch. I plan on giving the shafts a few more rounds but am researching some alternatives. Project x or Black gold? I like that I am hitting the ball a little higher so I want to make sure I retain the added height but would love to get a little more accurate.

Thanks

Eric

Why not move down to TFR in a 5.5 frequency? Or softstep the 6.0's once to get a little higher flight out of the short irons.

Rifle and DG are two totally different animals. TFR is a butt stiff and has a much softer tip than DG which has a stiff tip and a soft butt. Some guys are rifle guys and some are dynamic gold guys. Sounds like you might be a rifle guy.

Project X is a completely different animal, it's going to get the ball up fast, but will have a much flatter flight. It's a very stiff shaft, and takes some experience to fit people in the right frequency.

I can't help you with the Black Gold's I haven't hit them yet for any reasonable amount of time.

Hope that helps a little. Honestly, if I was you, I'd go wtih a softer flex in rifle.

How do you soft step TFR 6.0? Does that mean getting a new set of shafts for that?

No, you'd only have to buy a 2 iron shaft to place in the 3 iron head, and then progressively move each shaft to the next head (3 iron shaft into 4 head, 4 shaft into 5 head, etc).

With one soft step I think 6.0 would frequency to 5.7 or so.

However, rifles are mighty finicky, so the best thing to do is get to a rifle certified fitter and see exactly what they say. Or get Dyno or Joe K to do it for you.

Thanks. I might try that. Just have to see a rifle certified fitter and find out if I need it or not.

What's the typical distance for 7 iron in TFR 6.0?

How far do you carry yours?

There's not really any standard. I've got a driver SS of just over 100mph, and I hit my 7 iron (DG S300) 165 with a smooth swing.

what about instead of using the tour flighted rifle going to the standard rifles - long irons will be a little lower, and short irons will be a little higher, or seeing a certified rifle clubmaker and have a set of rifle blanks set up for the proper flex and desired kickpoint for you.

for the dgs300 to be a higher trajectory than the rifle shafts makes me think the 6.0 is too stiff and/or the tour flighted kickpoints are set too high because typically the dynamic gold shafts are lower trajectory than the rifles.
