Moving to Boise and need to find out what courses to play.

In about 6 months I will be moving from Southern Oregon to Boise, ID and I am wondering if there is anyone that can suggest courses to play, and what courses I should make my regular stops at. I currently play 4 courses in my area regularly. Two are pretty nice, one is nice 9 hole course, and the other is a 9 hole weed patch that I play when I am running out of daylight. Most of the rounds I play are around 30-55 bucks, and would like to keep it around that for the most part. I'm not against playing a nice course for more, but don't have the funds to do it all the time. 

Anyways, Are there any Boise residents on here, or any people that are familiar with the area that could point me in the right direction? If not, I'll just have to play them all and figure it out the hard way haha.

I moved to Boise eight years ago from Mayland and found the public courses in the Boise area disappointing. In fact, I've come to play my neighborhood course, [b]Eagle Hills[/b], only out of convenience and price ($28.00). It's short and easy, but usually in pretty good shape. A nice course to walk. And surprisingly not that crowded, although they often have Saturday morning tournaments. Because of that, I often go out at 300-400 on a weekday or weekend and play by myself. Very nice, friendly and casual staff. Nice small grass range, but you hit floaters into a lake. Very small practice green. And the course has a very nice restaurant, Eighteen 1, on site.

Other public courses in the Boise area that I've played:

[b]Shadow Valley[/b] - OK course, but nothing spectacular. A couple of good holes, but I'd say overall it's overrated. I recall the fees pretty high for what you get ($55 range). I remember the pro shop staff very welcoming.[b] [/b] Very nice, large natural grass practice range.[b]

Warm Springs[/b] - flat and easy. Typical muni, but a nice walk. Reasonable price, but crowded whenever I've played it. Matted driving range.[b]

Banbury[/b] - Upscale neighborhood course. Waay over-rated and pricey for what you get. Worth playing one time. [b]

Quail Hollow[/b] - Short, pretty tight, but easy if you hit it straight. Fun course with quite a bit of elevation variety due to being built on hillside and in valleys. I recall fast greens. Tough course to walk. Can be crowded. Nice pro shop staff. [b]

Boise Ranch - [/b]A dog track. Play it only out of convenience.[b]

Pierce Park - [/b]9 hole executive course hidden off a neighborhood street (Pierce Park!). LARGE, natural grass driving range on site. Very small practice putting green. Fun place to dink around.

Falcon Crest[/b] - probably the best public course in the Boise area. The few time I've played there it was in very good condition. Nice views. Pretty flat, with well done mounding and undulations. Few traditional trees. Prices vary from weekday $35 to $45 or so on the weekend. About 6100 from the middle tees as I recall. I'd play it more often if it was closer to my house.

If you eventually make Boise your home, give me a holler. Always looking for a game.

Thanks for the info. I am thinking about heading up in July to visit, and play a few rounds while i'm there. I'll definitely get a hold of you once I move out there.
