Titleist 710 CB

Popularity?
About two months ago I made the move back to Titleist.

After debating between the AP2, the 710 CB, and the 710 MB, I decided on the clean look and feel (in my opinion) of the CB or MB, and under final consideration based on some slight forgiveness and the fact that I am a "digger", I went with the 710 CB.

After about ten rounds I am pleased with my choice.

I have noticed that there is, however, a noticable lack of "love" for these irons on this site. It seems like everyone goes with either the MB or the AP2.

I am curious as to the reason why this is the case.

Any comments?

Thanks.

I was in the same boat. I hit the ap2, mb's and cb's a ton. It was a very tough choice but I found a cb set on the bay with my exact specs with not only x100 but tour issue x100. I couldnt pass this up and bought them. I love them so far, coming from the original Nike blades I love the added sole and bounce. I'm really happy so far, so I'm with you

Good topic!

I am considering the CB aswell. I am playing a Bridgstone J33b blade right now. I love the feel and look of a blade but why not add a little help?

I hope this gets discussed! I too have had people tell me "just go with the MB" and i'm like "I already play a blade and want a bit of help but still want the feel of a blade and look of a blade.

It's between the Mizuno MP63, Mp60, and the Titleist CB. I think I may go Titleist tho as I seem to feel a bit more weight in the Mizzy's compared to the rest of the crowd in forged players irons. I really prefer a light iron. I feel like I have way more control and power over my shots.

How do they "feel" compared to a pure blade and have they helped your game at all Texcrom?

After going through a lengthy fitting at Haggin Oaks here in Northern California, I decided on the MBs over the CBs. I wasn't even considering the AP2, but did try other irons from Mizuno, Nike, Cleveland, and Callaway. I went with the MB because my misses were actually farther offline with the CB. The CB also got really caught up in the headwind we had that day. It's a solid club, I just don't think its very forgiving compared to the MB.

On a side note, I picked up a Cobra Pro CB 2 iron in a bargain bin a couple of months ago and kick myself for not finding a demo set of these irons when I was searching for a new set.

I currently play them. I don't get the GREAT feel on the course with the turf that I got inside hitting off a mat, which is weird. Maybe it's me.
I made a thread about it.

I went from MP-33's to 710cb. They play as good and are a nice small iron with a little help, that we all need. What made my mind up is the size of the CB's. All other players irons, including everything Mizuno offers, have a larger face area. The toe height of a MP iron was 5mm higher, thats alot when comparing the two clubs at address. Anyway back to the subject, 710CB's are great, just buy what you like and feel confident with, we all prefur different things. If you feel confident and swing with freedom, that's what counts.

I hit them today along with the MP68 and MP63.

CB's feel good but they lack distance. I hit an average CB 6i 160 and the MP63 and MP68 were averaging 170 - 180. The CB def had a higher ball flight. Not nearly as penetrating as the 63 and 68. Honestly after trying these out, I say go Mizuno 63 or 68. In titleist go with the MB.

I now see what everyone else is saying!

I don't think there is a cavity back forged club that feels as good as a pure muscleback blade. I would say the 710 CB's and the Mizuno MP-62's are about as close as you can get. I have not played the new MP-63's.

As for helping my game, I have hit a few shots that ended up better than I expected, but not many.

I will say that I expected more forgiveness by going to these in the 3 and 4 iron, but have had blades (MP-33 and 695MB)that I hit better, strange as that may seem. maybe I am still getting used to them. And I used to kill the 3 iron in mp R9 TP B blades (have to admit I miss those!).

As for feel, however, I find the 710 CB's to feel better than any forged cavity back I have hit.

Keep in mind that the MBs are better suited for sweepers and the CBs with their wider sole are better for diggers.

Setting that aside there is something to be said for having short iron blades and being able to keep the trajectory down easily.

I'm with leftypga, I picked up a set of CB's on ebay in haste for a monday qualifier and they seemed to be ok. Not long after, I noticed my shot dispersion was a lot wider than I wanted. When I got to try out some MB's from a guy who was getting rid of his, I found that the shot pattern was quite a bit narrower than the CB's. I picked up his set and actually found a great set of 690MB's on wrx and have been looking to unload the CB's ever since. They are quality irons, theres no question about that, but I gave them one last try this week and after 4 holes, I decided that they're hittin the highway. The forgiveness is nice, but if I miss a shot, I want to know right away, not get my hopes up that the off center hit might still get there thanks to the cavity. Plus on windy days, theres no comparison to the MB's ability to keep the ball down.

I got a set of CBs after my disappointments with several sets of AP 2s (Sorry.) Like them a lot, but prefer my MP 68s. In fairness, I have not really given them a chance yet.

I have a set of CB/MBs arriving today 4-6/7-PW 2 degrees strong. Never hit a Titleist blade before. Will try them out and let you know - but it will be tough to beat the MP 68...

i agree with the side note. Cobra Pro CB and MB are it! I thought about the 710 CBs, but they looked a fraction clunky (especially the PW) compared to the Cobras. I currently play a combo set of 6-PW in MBs and 3,4,5 CBs...and LOVE them.

I just bought a set of AP2s, and spent some time yesterday swinging them side by side with my x-22 tours. I couldn't believe how chunky they looked at address compared to the x22s. Definitely different from what I recalled from the golf shop.

As it turned out, they were shipped 1/2" over specified length, so I returned them and am getting a set of 710 CB with the Nippon 105t. Taking a small chance as I only hit 20-30 balls to try it out, but I liked what I saw at address and felt in the swing. Guess I'll find out soon enough if that holds on the course.

Been playing these irons for a couple of weeks now, and I love them. I went from Ping i3 "blades" to these, and so far I'm not having much trouble with the transition...except on toe misses (which is my usual miss). The Pings are definitely more forgiving, but I knew that going in. I love the added ability to work the ball, and I seem to have better distance control, although that may be the shafts.

My previous irons were a combo set of MP 52 (3,4) and MP 62 (5-PW) with DGS300. I am currently playing 710 CB with KBS tours X soft stepped once. It would be unfair to compare apples for apples because the shafts behave in different manners. The CBs give me a higher ball flight in part due to the shafts. The higher ball flight will still go through the wind pretty well and I picked up a few yards in each club. Mizuno irons are famous for their feel and they deserve that reputation. The 62s have so much feel you know when your going to be pin high or 5 yards short. The CBs are also very solid on center hits and with the KBS shafts feel every bit as good as the 62's. Mishits feel a little harsher to me with the CBs than the Mizunos. Overall I couldn't be happier with the performance, feel, and looks of the 710 CB's.

Actually the final deciding point for me as I am a digger.
