grip size thoughts

confused i guess

I have always used grips that were .580-.600 standard sizes i guess, with a wrap or 2 underneath. I am 5-9 and wear a large cadet glove. I consistently read where very large golfers, 6ft+ ( tiger, angel, ernie) i mean big guys with way bigger hands than me are using grips that are .580 with a single wrap beneath. That would equate to me using like a .700 grip. It seems to me that this size would be way to small for someone of their size, and would cause inaccuracy/strange pressure points. This also would mean that the club falls across their hands different than it does for me. I mean it appears that i have a hand position close to what i can see from the pro's, but what is working underneath must be very different, as far as where the club lies in the finger/knuckle pads. Does this come under the old tale of the more talented the golfer, the more flexible shaft they can use.... I mean with grips so small for hands that size these guys must be releasing the club with reckless speed, or have incredible hand control. Ive tried using women's grips and i was all over the place with accuracy. I have played my best golf with .580 ribbed-midsize and they seem to fit my hands without causing callouses. Has anyone tried playing with very small grips, and if so what were your results? distance gain? loss of control?

I prefer oversized grips. At 6'6" 300 lbs, why not I figure. Ha ha.. Don't give much thought to what the pros use. If it works for you, go with it. Period.

i use this chart (0.600 core size on 0.600 butt)

if you put a 0.58 core grip on a 0.600 but you gain 0.020
By streching it down 3/4 you get the same as using 0.600/0.600
1 layer of build up tape in this chart, equals to 0.015
1 layer of db sided grip tape should be added, and its included in size.

I use standard size on my irons however I use midsize on my woods and driver. It seems for me, a high handi the mid size on my longer clubs helps keep me from sliceing too much. I do not know why. I tried it as a experiment and it worked for me.
