taylormade tp wedges

question

I have a set that consist of 52,56,60 Taylormade Black Tp wedges. I just wanted to know if they are supposed to rust? I have some rust forming on the 56, 60. I got rid of my last wedges due to the up keep from the rust. I thought the TP's were maintenece free. Did I go wrong here? Thanks

I also have started to notice a bit of oxidation on the faces. I do not remember any warning given by TaylorMade that this would be the case, like when Cleveland puts a sticker on the shaft. Anyone know for sure what the deal is....

Yes the black finish will wear off and it will rust. There is a warning somewhere i just can't remember.

The first time mine were exposed to rain they started to rust (just a little bit). :drinks:

I haven't gotten around to taking the stickers off mine yet. They mention that the gray parts(face and feel pockets) are not plated and will rust over time. It doesn't mention anything about the black parts and I haven't used them enough to find out for myself.

When I purchased mine I remember a sticker on the shaft warning the face and feel pockets may rust over time although I've had 'em for greater than 6 months now and I have not noticed rust of any sort. I usually clean my clubs within a few hours after my round so I'm sure that helps

Thanks for the replies. I talked to TM customer service and they said to take them to a TM retailer and they should take care of them for me. They said that they (the wedges) shouldn't rust. Just thought I would pass that on.

As for the stickers, does golfsmith take the stickers off the their clubs before putting them on the rack? I don't remember any stickers on the clubs so i went to golfsmith and none of their wedges had stickers on them.

I have a 54 and 58 degree rac Black TP's and the sticker on the shaft said that they may rust over time and this was normal.

I clean mine after every round and never had an issue with rust.

You should also whipe them after each shot.

I imagine that the store's practice varies with the manager. At the local Golfsmith here (San Jose, CA), they strip the shrink wrap off the heads and usually the grips but leave all the stickers on. When I've bought clubs there, they've always offered to remove the stickers at the time of purchase. Some of the wedges (Clevelands come to mind) have a lot of stickers on them.
