Scotland trip

My golf trip of a lifetime is a mere 166 days away Starting June 18th. Playing in order Kingsbarns, Carnoustie, Jubilee, Crail Balcomie, Old Course, Muirfield, North Berwick, Gullane #1, Dunbar. We are staying in St. Andrews for 4 days and in North Berwick for 3 days.

I would love to get a list of things to do/see, places to eat, or distilleries to visit while we are over given our location. We will have a driver as well so thanks in advance for the ideas.

Sounds like an excellent trip for sure, Had the good fortune to play Kingsbarns the last two years. We also played the Old Course, Carnoustie and North Berwick. One thing I will ighly recommend is that you get a caddy for each of your rounds. They are well worth it and will leave you with some of the best stories from your trip. As for places to go, be sure to hit the Jigger Inn, alongside the Road Hole and the Dunvegan just around the corner from the 18th green at the Old Course. Enjoy! We have been in Scotland the last two years and are heading to Ireland this summer.

The best restaurant in St. Andrews is The Seafood Restaurant (that is actually its name). There are also two excellent Indian restaurants. Have a drink and some bar food at the Dunvegan. The proprieters, Jack and Sheena, will give you the inside scoop on everything in town.

I would also walk up to the ancient cemetary and see the graves of the three Tom Morris's.

My daughter was just accepted to the University there. If I can convince her to go, I may see you in town.

As posted in another topic I went up for The Open last summer and played the PGA Centenary at Gleneagles. Excellent course and 2014 Ryder Cup venue. Cannot recommend it enough.

Not many distilleries in the Lowlands, Glenkinchie is probably the most accessible for you. Their whisky is eh, but going to any distillery is worth it. Obviously spend some time in Edinburgh. Amazing city.
