Good Practice Facility in Orlando?

Hey all....

Planning an escape from the north for a long weekend 2/10 - 2/13, and need to find a good practice facility, along with some reasonably priced decent courses; I know that snowbird rates in in effect right now, but hoping that golfnow, and similar sites might help.

Last year, I found a driving range listing for what appeared to be a decent place around Windermere; not sure if there are any other quality practice facilities away from courses. I'll be playing, hopefully, also, but need to spend some time practicing without the temptation to run straight for the first tee.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. From these threads, it looks like there are at least a few guys on here that try to arrange WRX pairings; I'd be happy to join in, if there's room. I'm a 6.3 index that hasn't touched a club for over two months; I'll try not to slow you down. Feel free to PM me, or reply via this thread.

Orange Lake has a few decent practice areas, plus it's lit until 12:00am. The main course there is called the Legends which is a Palmer Course. Ok course nothing on it will wow you (but there are not too many wow holes in Florida in general). They also have a lit par three course and a shorter course called Cranes Bend which is around 6000 yards.

I have a time share there just off the 1st tee the week after your visit.

I recently went to check out the Faldo Golf Institute and that is my new spot. Great grass on the range and a huge putting area that is also chipable. They have some sand areas as well but I stick to the range and practice green.

$10 for 65 balls is a tad steep but the facility itself makes it worth the price. And cute girls as a bonus!

You probably checked out the windermere golf center, not a bad spot. As a former grand cypress employee, you cannot find a better practice facility. All the balls you can hit if you play/stay there

Windermere Golf Center sounds right; I've noticed that Grand Cypress has had some relatively decent greens fee rates this month. I hope that they're still available when I hit town. Champion's Gate has also posted fees that could be considered low for them, for this time of year.

Any courses that might be considered "diamonds in the rough?" those that don't get alot of attention, but offer an above average golf experience?

Great place to practice. I lived in Orlando for about a year and a half and thats where I always went. The only thing that they didn't have was a great wedge range. If you ever go to the Lake Mary area while your there try Timacuan. They have a great short game area. The range is also pretty good. You may even see some PGA tour players there praticing with Mike Bender. He has a golf institute there.
