V2 or Pro Launch in Bridgestone 420cc?

Recommended Posts

I play a 9.5 J33 driver with the stock NV 65-S. I like it, however I'd like a slightly higher launch. I tried the 10.5 J33 but I hit it too high! Basically I just want a nice, powerful, good feeling shaft that will give me a tad more hight.

What are everyone's experiences with the V2 and Prolaunch Blue? Playing characteristes and comments on feel are appreciated. Thanks.

PS...I pretty much want to try one of these two shafts as I don't want to spend $90 - $350 on a driver shaft.

I've got to agree with Gunmetal, but that because I have a swing that lends itself to a V2 and not a Pro Launch.

They're really 2 different shafts...

If you hit big balloon balls and spin it like crazy...give the V2 a try. You probably won't be dissappointed. It's a whole lotta golf shaft for $65.

If you hit it low and don't spin it enough...give the Prolaunch a whirl.

Personally, the Pro Launch doesn't work at all for me. I've tried the V2 and liked it but once you've played an Accra its' tough to play anything but.

Happy Hunting!

Thanks. Will the V2 launch the ball higher than the NV? Alsowhat's so great about Accra? And what loft do you play in your driver?

The V2 will probably launch the ball higher than the NV. I like it better than the prolaunch.

Accras are great feeling and performing shafts. They are designed by UST and their parent company in Japan Mamiya. They have low torque, and responsive tips. They don't feel boardy like some other low torque shafts.

I had an Accra T70 in my J33R 460 and it worked great. I upgraded to an SC 75 and it holds up better to my swing.

I have the prolaunch, and I hate it! Got it because I read a Golf Digest article about how we should all be trying to increase launch angle and minimise spin to maximise carry distance. However, the shaft is just too tip soft, launches it like a space shuttle, balloons the ball, and puts so much backspin on my drives that I swear that some of them roll back towards me!!

I've got the prolaunch in my driver, and the V2 in my 3wd. Ballflight in each of the respective heads is med/high with no ballooning, unless I really try to crush the driver. My swing speed is normally 105-110 so I fall basically in between S and X. I've read that graffalloys play about 1/2 flex stiffer then other manufacturers. Not sure if this is true, but I really like the prolaunch in my driver. My V2 in my 3wd is tipped to play like a soft X also fyi...

so to sum it up, depends on the head. I'd say the prolaunch feels a bit softer then the V2, but again, my V2 is tipped...

Thanks for the input. I decided to give the V2 a try and ordered one today. Hopefully I'll get just a tad more height AND a responsive feel.

More opinions are always welcome. :drinks:

You ought to try Grafalloy Comp NT. IMO it feels better than V2 which was extrememly boardy and no kick. It launches med high to high but its a flatter ball flight. I've tried ProLaunch and its not bad, just a little too much spin. Comp NT is the best feel at impact of any shaft I've tried this year.

D'Oh!! Wish you had said that yesterday before I placed my order....

Anyone else on board with the Comp NT??

Oh well....if the V2 doesn't work out I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about your choice. I've played both and liked each one. The V2 was a little stiffer feeling but, not excessive and had a pretty smooth feel to me. The Prolaunch feels a little whippy compared to the V2 but, also was not excessive and it had a smooth feel to it. The V2 will hit a flatter shot and the Prolaunch will hit it a little higher. The Prolaunch was big on the Champions Tour and the V2 is getting play with the younger guys on PGA Tour. You can't go wrong with either and I think you'll like the V2 IMHO.

Personally, I use the prolaunch, but I have a relatively slow swing speed. This has really helped my carry distance a bunch. I tried one of my friends clubs with a V2. I really liked it, but just didn't have enough swing speed, so I went with the prolaunch.
