Wow, that looks like either a minature golf course or a painting! I guess I'd hit pitching wedge off the tee just to keep the ball in play! :cheesy:

 

 

If you're going to hit wedge you better knock it down. There is a branch right in front of you that will come into play otherwise. On the yardage book it probably correctly states that this might be the toughest tee shot in the world.

Best overall has top be Newport Country Club or Wannamoisett Country Club both are private clubs.

 

 

Best course you can play: Newport National (Held 2 AJGA events and should hold a potential qualifier for USGA soon), Cranston Country Club (Held a couple of Mini Tour events), or Triggs Memorial (Classic Donald Ross).

I was talking PUBLIC courses that normal people can play. Not clubs that the average Joe can play. But to your point I agree, but if you include those 2 you need to think about Quidnessett Country Club or Shelter Harbor. BUt I am not a big fan of either.

It will be called Five Oaks Golf Club, just outside of Riverside,Iowa. Designed by The Open Doctor himself, Rees Jones, need I say anymore?

Well Sam, obviously you are not a fan of Carlton Woods. The last time i looked it was ranked #5 in Texas for 2005-2006 (Golf Digest) and ranked #2 in Texas by Dallas Morning News in 2006. Everyone has their own opinion and i voiced mine. A few others that i have played.

Sam, i have only played the Nicklaus course at Carlton Woods. I played there while they were hosting the Carlton Woods Cup. The course was in great condition and the greens were running somewhere between 12-13. I like Colonial also. I played 36 holes there way back in 1977 on my way to the US Open at Southern Hills.

Riverdale Dunes is a great track for the money, a superb deal. The only mountain course I've played is the Estes Park GC. I'm hoping to drag the wife up next year and play some of the better mountain tracks

For the Private set, I agree Crystal and The South are the tops in Michigan.

For us mere mortals, Arcadia Bluffs - hands down better than Black Wolf and Whistling Straights - is the tops for daily fee in MI.

Mariner's Point in San Mateo. Best golf course in Northern California. With the high winds and range balls on 1/3 of the holes. Can't beat it.

 

I'd say best golf course I played is Oakland Metropolitan, which means that I haven't gone to any good golf courses.
