anybody play this course this season??

I know the reviews on conditions were mixed from last summer, but that is understandable.

I played it twice last year and found the conditions to be quite good - I had no complaints. I haven't played it yet this year, but probably will. I understand they've done some mild redesign, including adding some collection areas around greens, and some work on the tee boxes. One of my rounds last year was with a regular there who was a member when it was G'town CC and seemed to have a lot of input (probably more input that influence ) on some of the course changes. There are a couple of goofy holes (like a 90 degree dogleg left par 5) but overall, I like the course. It's a great walking course - not hilly, but it has enough contours to not feel like a FL course.

When I called to try to play there a couple of weeks ago, I think they said the range is closed, which always puts me off because I like to warm up before I play.

I live about 5 miles from the course and I haven't played it yet this year. I did play it last year and i really enjoyed it. Once I get into the swing of things that'll be my home course for the year.

I played it last week in a vendor sponsored scramble. The course looks and plays great. Greens were in good condition and the fairways were nice.... no complaints at all.

Last time I played there was before the name change.

Played Black Swan this morning. The course is in great shape - you should have no hesitation whatsoever playing there. A bargain at $41 (walking/weekday). The more I play this course (this was my 3rd time) the more I like it.

I played it yesterday (Saturday) after 2:00, and it is $40 walking (great deal IMO). I loved the course. Greens were rolling smooth and pretty quick. The first couple of holes are tough the first time around (hard to visualize the hole and where you are going) and I didn't hit driver until the 5th hole, playing from the tips. Also, something that never gets mentioned but means a lot to me...the bunkers were all in great shape (the white sand).

It definitely gets my recommendation.

gave it a try yesterday since the comments on here put me at ease after what I had read based on last season.

very glad I did. conditions were great. layout was a lot of fun. wish the course had yardage books. lots of forced carries or layups off the T, which I love, but knowing the actual distance would have been nice.

Particularly that par 5 where you're hitting mid-iron to hybrid off the tee (at most). There was talk last year of moving those tees up so that you could drive the shmegma, and turning it into a long par 4. I thought that would have been a good move, although it's nice to have a relatively benign par 5 (which is what it is now).
