in-depth questions
Alright, I have read the reviews and all of the information and have a few questions for users.

1) How does this wedge perform on open faced shots? Does it sit 100% flush when open or is there a slight camber?

2) How easy is it to control trajectory?

3) Looking at the bounce on the 60 and 52 it looks really high. Does it play that high or does it play more like a low(er) bounce wedge?

Alright, I have read the reviews and all of the information and have a few questions for users.

If you lay the face wide open, the leading edge still sits up, but because of the trailing edge relief, it does sit lower than any other wedge I've played. If you dig deep enough with the search engine, I posted a picture of my T-35 layed wide open compared to my 60* spin milled, the difference is substantial.

EDIT - found the pic. This should help you visualize how low it sits on hardpan when wide open:

2) How easy is it to control trajectory?

If you can control your trajectory with another wedge, you can easily do it with this one. It doesn't have the long hosel like the Bridgestone, but it seems to hit the ball a bit lower than the Vokey and Cleveland's I've used in the past. :idhitit:

3) Looking at the bounce on the 60 and 52 it looks really high. Does it play that high or does it play more like a low(er) bounce wedge?

It plays like a lower bounce wedge, the leading edge is sharp, and it's very stable through the turf, no complaints yet on the hard Texas runways, errr fairways . . .

Hope that helps.

OK, the wedges do perform OK with an open face - at least as well as any other leading brand.

Trajectory control was also OK, pretty much the same as the vokeys.

The bounce was a bit lower than what I was used to.

I owned the 52 and the 56 and recently sold both. These wedges are simply too hard to hit for my 8 handicap. With my vokeys I got excellent distance control and spin. Yet I found the Sonartecs really hard to vary distance.

But my main issue was with the leading edge, which just seemed to dig like crazy, no matter what ball position I used. I tried everything, but eventually had zero confidence standing over the ball with these wedges. If you are effective with super small 1970s style blades, then you may like these, but for me the Vokeys are easier to hit, more consistent and better looking at address.
