I guess i should preface, I want to get the R7 since I kill the ball with it but I think it will be distracting. I have a feeling I will tinker with it all the time to fix swing flaws and when I play different courses and will never get it 'right'.... now if you dont tinker with it why get the R7 then? especially the TP model that has over 100 combos sw, ball flight etc.. I know of other excellent drivers like the cleveland comp 460, callaway FT 3 tour and 905R that are pretty long.

I think you answered your own question in the first sentence. "I want to get the R7 since I kill the ball with it"

I have several MWT clubs from TaylorMade (R7 425, R5 TP, Rescue Dual) and to be honest, I set them once I bought the club and tinkered with the weights once since. I've found I hit these heads great, much better than anything else out there right now (believe me, I've owned another 3-4 big name drivers this year) and the reason I stick with the TM's is that I hit the ball well and they feel comfortable to me.

had one for a few months, never changed the weights around then got rid of it. went back to a r500 series driver.

my opinion, the r7 just sux and all that MWT garbage is just a joke.

if you want to shape a shot or correct a hook, slice, adjust your setup and swing. it's all about the golfer NOT the club.

let's hear it.

steve..u had the quad for like a week and then got another one and it never even saw the range LOL.

Now, the r7 is a fantastic club assuming you don't get the stock shaft. TBH alot of kids on my golf team have r7's and ive seen them change the weights like once or twice..and that was while at the range. IF you're hitting it fine and "killing it" then just leave it alone and have ur dad hide the wrench of something, that way you wont be tempted. :idhitit: :diablo:

I will share my story to illustrate the benefit of the MWT weights.

I am like most people once I find a setting I like then I stick with it.

I usually play a high fade but after a recent surgery on my left hand I started to hook everything. So I swtiched the weights to 'prevent' the hooks while I tried to regain my swing.

Now I'm mostly healed but I'm hitting the balls even higher than before (losing a lot of distance) so I'm working on a slightly new/different swing to lower my trajectory. I switched the weights around again and now I'm playing a low fade.

Without the MWT weights I'd would not be able to play as soon as I did after the surgery. And while I'm in progress of a swing change I can easily change the weights to suit my new swing.

Well I dont know about getting the R7 and setting it once and thats it... that kinda defeats the purpose. I agree the shafts are really important.. and although I think the TM speeder, REAX, Diamana are ok not the real thing but close... I have seen guys that the shaft matches perfectly.. I think TM R7 is a good concept and good driver but I think the real benefit I see is the swing weight adjustment and getting a different feel light or heavy SW
