I disagree. You will notice a difference between the NXT Tour and Pro V1.

With that said, the NXT Tour offers better value, especially for high handicappers who are more prone to losing golf balls in the woods, rough, water, etc.

I used to play the NXT Tour until I got better (lowered my handicap). At that point, I rewarded myself by playing with Srixon Z-Stars (which I prefer over Pro V1s).

No offense to an 18 hdcp, but do you feel such a golfer would notice? I am a 7 and I prefer the NXT tour.[quote name='abc' timestamp='1313186107' post='3478556']

I do think he'll notice the difference in time.

His drives will go longer with the Pro V1 (at least on the good drives with both balls). Well struck wedge shots will check up much faster with the Pro V1, etc.

He'd be blind not to notice the difference eventually.

No matter a persons handicap if they play enough they'll be able to tell the difference between a rock and tour ball no matter their handicap.
As for me, mine is high because of lack of practice/play. If I had time to focus on practice and play once or twice a week I'd probably be lower. Be that as it may, I go out and shot low 90's w/o practice.
I'm trying the nxt to see if I can get more control on the green to get wedge shots to stop or stay within few feet of landing spot instead of hitting them and rolling 10-20 feet further as the e7 does, causing me to have to 2 putt most of the time, sometimes even 3.If the nxt can do that for me then who knows, maybe I'll be able to go out and shot mid 80's w/o practice simply by eliminating some putts. That is my goal, to hit it and stick or stay close.

I've played both. Definitely prefer the NXT Tour between that and the e7.

My pleasure.

I preferred the NXT Tour for the reasons that Golflifer mentioned.

Of the e-series balls, I prefer the e6. It was softer than the e7 and had more spin, but traveled longer than the e5 (which had lots of spin but tends to balloon and lose distance).

When you get better and feel that you don't lose many balls, definitely give the Srixon Z-Stars a try. It's a wonderful ball.

Taking a box of NXT Tour Titelist out this weekend. My first experience with titelist.
Normally play bridgestone e7.
What should I expect as an 18 handicapper?

I'm gonna be cruel. Sorry.

As an 18 hcp, the last thing you need to worry about is your ball.

Are you hitting it long but OB or into hazards or into unplayables? Not the ball.

Are you three putting? Not the ball.

Are you chipping and then two putting? Not the ball.

1) get you a ball you can hit long and/or straight.

2) pop it onto the green from your drive (for par 4's) If it rolls over the back all the time, look for a spinny ball. If your second shot is a "hope for the green", you need a distance ball.

There you go, my take.

The NXT tour is a great ball for the money. I am always trying different balls just for fun. Honestly, it is one of the longer balls I have tried while still having pretty good feel and short game spin. Agreed, it is probably not going be as soft as a Pro V or spin as much on partial shots but I doubt most golfers are going to notice all that much. I think it is a great price point performance wise. At the moment it is my ball of choice. It is worth at least trying a sleeve. You may really like them.

hate to throw a wrench here, but what PRO V are we talking about the x or regular, because I have been playing a NXT Tour (9 handicap) and like it, but I have been wondering, just like the previous post, if hit well, which will travel longer the NXT or the Pro V (and which one) I know the reg Pro V is softer, so what is the benefit of the X. And could this 18 (original OP) benefit from the reg Pro V or should he try the X? I recently was in the same boat played the E5 and the E7 and went to the NXT Tour, for cost reason more than anything, but my one buddy switched from the e7 to the Pro 1 Vx and juast wanted to know the benefits of both compared to the NXT Tour. (distance and feel).

I tend to agree with HocketyHank. A mid handicap golf ball is not going to help you become a mid handicap golfer. On the other hand I am a firm believer in playing a ball that gives you the most confidence. If playing the NXT Tour gives you confidence you will likely be more relaxed and play a little better.

I am in about the same index as yourself. I can't really speak for the X as I have little play with it, but the NXT tour does seem noticably longer for me off the tee than the standard Pro V (non X). I am not sure that is a performance attribute as much as my own experience and swing. From what I understand, and I very well could be wrong but the Pro V 1x is a lower launching lowwer spinning ProV1. It will be interesting to hear others thoughts in terms of how the perfomance relates to the NXT tour.

Ive been playing the NXT tour for about 10rounds now (10 handicap) and its a decent ball for the money. It does what you want it to do and tends to stay lower on driver shots. The only thing i dont like about it
is that it barley spins off my PW or lower. Hardly even checks up.

I used the Zstar last round and you could really tell the differnce when your using a quality ball. Longer drives, more spin on approach shots, more spin on chips shots, better feeling off the putter.

Keeping it on topic i would compare the NXT tour to the Gamer V2

Thanks, generally I hit the green 30-40% in reg, rest of the time I'm chipping/pitching from 5-20 yds out up to the green and those shots run instead of stopping, causing me to have a 2 putt most of the time.
I did play the nxt yesterday and have to say I liked it. Was only 9 holes so I'll wait until I have a few more holes in with it to really decide
