Where to play, rent clubs

I am heading to Savannah with my wife on a business trip in late October, I have two days to play while she works. At first glance I am thinking The Club at Savannah Harbor, they host a Champions Tour event, 4 miles from the hotel and they rent clubs.

Let me know what you guys think, I could pack a light bag if needed, but won't have a rental car. Staying at the Marriott Riverfront.

Definitely stick with Savannah Harbor and make sure to book on GolfNow, it will save you a ton.

You can take the free ferry from River Street near the Hyatt across to the Westin and they will shuttle you to the course.

Yeah, Savannah Harbor is one of my favorite courses anywhere. My wife and I love Savannah so we get down there quite a bit and I pretty much always play there when I go down. Its basically my home course at my home away from home... haha

if you can get on the savannah golf club do it. its a great old fashioned Donald Ross course and very fun to play

I would go to Hilton Head. Just 35 mins a way and play Harbour Town Golf Links.

The original poster said he won't have a rental car, he won't need a car to get to Savannah Harbor. It would be a real pain to get to Hilton Head without a car, not to mention the price difference. Not having a car you can't get any more convenient than Savannah Harbor, with the ferry and shuttle.

I have played Harbour Town twice and would be hard pressed to recommend it over Savannah Harbor, especially considering the convenience.

2nd with ping man. you cannot go wrong with sav harbor. you wont be dissapointed. pm me if you need an extra player!
harbour town is great, just not for what they charge.

I talked to an assistant pro. They came down to $35 for rental clubs, but say that is their prime time for golf, asking $135 to play. Is that high for that time of year? Golf Now is showing in the $65 range for now, no way to tell that far in advance. Thanks for any insight.

You should definitely be able to get a tee time for a good bit cheaper using Golfnow. I paid $42 three weeks ago when I played it. I think the highest I've seen the rates on Golfnow are around $100.

Thanks, I'll keep the time for now and watch them as I get sooner. Don't mind the cost, but don't mind saving a buck either.
