The paint job doesn't look right, but then I might be mistaken. What is weird is that only one bid so far and it went straight to £500.

I'm not a Cameron expert so I can't be sure of the authenticity but I do know that's not shill bidding. If there's one bid and the price is $500, it means that the opening bid was set at $500 for this auction. Plus, if this guy is in fact trying to shill bid, he'll end up buying his own putter because it's the only bid on the auction right now.

Ok, I see the point that its not shill bidding. But the black finnish is not like other scotty's I've seen. Is this quite a rare version of a scotty? How many were made?

I have to question people that bid on items with over three days to go until auction close. The only thing they achieve is pushing up the price for themselves and/or other bidders, hence, why this particular auction looks suspicious.

Suspicious simply for the fact that bids were placed with 3 days to go? Are you for real?

 

 

 

Of course most experienced ebay'ers simply put items on their watch list and snipe at the end - but not everyone is either an ebay expert or someone who cares how much they spend. For some people, the thrill is in the hunt and they'll often end up paying just as much as they would in the store (or more) just for the thrill of winning the auction. Plus many people just have more money than they know what to do with and just don't care.

 

 

 

Having been on ebay over 8 years, I've definitely noticed that MOST bidders are much more savvy these days and the bulk of the bidding is in the last minute - BUT, each and every time I list something, someone somewhere does something to amaze me with their oddball bidding.

 

 

 

This auction is hardly suspicious (in terms of the bidding anyways).

Anyhow, didn't mean to come off as strong as you apparently took it but your whole point of anything appearing to be or seeming suspicious just because someone bid outside of the last 5 minutes is a little off, wouldn't you admit?
