GPS TRACKERS FOR SECURITY!!

GPS TRACKERS FOR GOLF CLUBS
HEY GUYS I WAS THINKING ABOUT GETTING A GPS TRAKCER FOR MY GOLF BAG

SINCE A THUG FROM NEIGHBORHOOD STOLE ME AND MY FAMILIES CLUBS NOT ONCE BUT TWICE IN THREE MONTH!

FIRST MY BROTHERS BAG FROM HIS CAR TRUNK IT WAS FULL TITLEIST BAG :(

AND THREE MONTHES LATER; NOW MY WHOLE BAG AND MY BROTHERS (AGAIN...) AND MY FATHERS TOO!!

IM VERY FURIOUS AND I KNOW THIS GUY WILL COME BACK FOR MORE...

SO I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND GPS TRACKER COULD HELP ME CATCH THIS THUG FOR MY SAKE!!

I KNOW POLICE WOULDNT DO s*** SINCE THEY DIDNT DO s*** FOR FIRST THEFT

SO I WAS THINKING IF I COULD PUT A GPS TRACKER IN MY GOLF BAG AND 'LET THE THUG STEAL IT FOR LAST TIME OF HIS MISERABLE LIFE'

DOES ANYBODY HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE? OR DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE CAN I GET RELIABLE, CHEAPER AND SMALLER GPS TRACKERS?

MY LOSS IS ABOUT $6000 IN TOTAL... IM DEVASTATED....

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS THREAD VERY SERIOUS, SINCE IM PRETTY SURE NUMBER OF WRXERS HAVE HAD SAME PROBLEMS LIKE ME.

It's an interesting idea. There are two main problems that you will experience.

1. GPS locators are easy to detect and dismantle. Any idiot can test for a GPS signal so even if you conceal it very well in your bag, like sowing it inside the club compartment, the transmitting signal will still give it away.

2. Power. Unless you are willing to fork over big cash, you will need to constantly charge the GPS unit in the bag. Small, inexpensive GPS units that have an extremely long battery life do not exist in the public sector.

On the retail market, the best you will find is a 30 day battery life (max) in a size suitable to be hidden within a golf bag.

First, please stop with the CAPS LOCK! Tough to read and it means you are yelling.

Second, what would be the next course of action after the person steals it? You mentioned the police won't do s***...would a GPS tracker constitute a search warrent for the police or do you plan to take justice in your own hands?

Not that I'm saying a lo-jack is a feasible answer to this guys problem, but I'm awfully curious how you think I'd be so easy for an average person/thief to detect if one was on board.

google "gps tracking bug" and you will find all sorts

Bug sweepers cost 500 bucks and up. I doubt the average thief carries one.

How frustrating. Stealing a man's (or women or child) clubs is like stealing a man's horse. Not sure about the GPS though, I would hate to see something bad happen if you decide to go renegade.

A GPS device will be relatively useless and here"s why...thieves generally know that the quicker they ditch stolen goods and get cash for their stash, the better. By the time you figure out your clubs are stolen and fire up your GPS device, your clubs will have changed hands at least a couple times, with each successive owner claiming no idea where the goods came from.

My wife is in the equestrian business. Someone broke into her barn and stole a few rather expensive saddles. All saddles of a certain quality are bought and sold with a serial number, so that's something the crooks needed to keep in place if they expected them to resell for anything.

Wife tracked the stolen saddles thru the serial numbers to an eBay seller, reported it to the local authorities who did manage to recover the stolen goods. Cops could not do anything...appears as if the eBay seller picked the saddles up from an auction house. When the auction house was questioned, they gave a name of a seller. Seller then gives another name and on and on. Cops arent expected to spend their days and nights obviously tracking down a few stolen saddles.

You don't need a $500 sweeper to detect it. You can use a standard AM radio to detect most GPS radio frequencies. I won't say exactly how it's done for the principle of security, but it's easier than you think.

People shouldn't worry about criminals who don't know how to get around security measures because they're either out of work or in jail. Worry about the professionals.

Take my advice, I know people that know people who rob people.

Are you locking your car and do you have a car alarm? I would spend the $300-400 on an excellent car alarm and if the jacka** even bumps the car the wrong way the alarm will go off.

If you are 100% sure it's the same guy I would bait the SOB, start talking around the neighborhood about your new clubs, and wait for him with a baseball bat or a 12GA.

I used to have a Mustang GT, I used to say if you got by the alarm, my 12GA with 5 shots of AA buck and the 17rds of 180gr .40S&W then you earned the car! All yours buddy!

My father in law is in construction and went through this with his tools. He actually worked with the Police and they placed RFID tags (much lower signal and power) on his tools and then after they were stolen, they drove around the neighborhoods and found his (and many other peoples) stolen tools.

Give the PD a chance, they might acutally want to help you.
